Join us as a Senior Electronics Engineerat our BUTECsites in the Kyle of Lochalsh and Applecross, where you will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in partnership with some of the most brilliant minds.\nThe Role\n The Senior Electronics Engineer is responsible for leading and coordinating the maintenance, development, testing, and deployment of electronic systems that support BUTEC's maritime range instrumentation, underwater tracking, communications, and data acquisition capabilities. The role combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring engineering activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with operational requirements.\nDay-to-day, you will supervise a team of engineers and technicians, provide technical guidance, oversee project delivery, and support the continued reliability and availability of critical range assets.\nYour responsibilities will include:\nLeadership & Supervision - Lead, mentor and supervise Electronics Engineers and Electronic Technicians\nEngineering & Technical Support - Provide technical expertise for electronic systems associated with maritime instrumentation, communications, telemetry, tracking, and data acquisition systems\nProject Management - Plan and manage engineering projects from concept through to implementation\nOperational Support - Provide engineering support to range operations and trials as required\nQuality, Safety & Compliance - Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety legislation, and engineering standards\nEssential experience of the Senior Electronics Engineer:\nSignificant experience in electronics engineering within a defence, maritime, industrial, telecommunications, or similar technical environment\nProven experience supervising engineering teams and managing technical work programmes\nStrong knowledge of electronic test equipment, fault-finding techniques, and system integration\nExperience producing technical documentation, reports, and engineering procedures\nExperience with underwater instrumentation, sonar systems, RF communications, telemetry, or data acquisition systems\nEssential qualifications for theSenior Electronics Engineer:\nKnowledge of networked electronic systems and industrial control systems\nWe value difference and we don’t have a fixed idea when it comes to background or education, provided you can show the required level of experience and willingness to learn then we would like to hear from you.\nThis role is 37 hours per week based at the BUTEC sites, Kyle of Lochalsh and Applecross and is based full time onsite.\nBUTEC\nBUTEC (British Underwater Test & Evaluation Centre) is a specialised facility focused on underwater testing and evaluation. It supports the development and assessment of various maritime systems including submarines, autonomous underwater vehicles and naval munitions.
