{"id":3248822,"url":"https://alion.io/job/qinetiq-senior-uvs-systems-engineer","title":"Senior UVS Systems Engineer","company":{"id":51551,"name":"QinetiQ","domain":"qinetiq.com","url":"https://alion.io/company/qinetiq","size_band":"1-10","is_staffing_agency":false,"employer_type":"direct","is_intermediary":false,"listed_via":null,"ats_vendor":"SuccessFactors","truth_index":null},"role":"Industrial Engineering","role_family":"Industrial Engineering","seniority":"senior","employment_type":null,"work_mode":"hybrid","remote_scope":null,"remote_scope_basis":null,"remote_working_hours":null,"hiring_geo_confidence":"explicit","locations":["Medicine Hat, Canada"],"countries":["CA"],"hiring_countries":[],"hiring_countries_total":0,"salary":null,"salary_estimate":{"min_usd":55000,"max_usd":95000,"period":"year","method":"role_seniority_country_remote_cell","sample_n":500},"experience_years_min":10,"visa_sponsorship":false,"relocation_package":false,"has_equity":false,"technologies":[],"status":"live","first_seen_at":"2026-10-21T00:00:00Z","employer_posted_date":"2026-10-21","last_verified_at":"2026-11-01T01:16:32Z","board_verified":true,"closed_at":null,"days_open":11,"trust":{"level":"ok","repost_count":null,"flags":[],"days_open":11},"description":"Medicine Hat, AB | Full-Time | Permanent | Hybrid Work Environment\nAbout the Role\nAs part of the Systems Engineering Department the Systems Engineer is a key part of the development team for the concepts, design, development, production, and operation of Uncrewed Vehicle Systems with respect to the overall multi-disciplinary technical systems developed and maintained for Aerial, Surface, Control Stations, Test Equipment, and Payloads as part of the QTSC product families.\nGeneral Responsibilities & Duties\nAssist in the development of the Concept of Operations & use cases for the QTSC Products and Services\n\nAssist in the creation as part of the overall team the development of the technical architecture for dependant Products, Projects, and Programs over the course of there lifecycles\n\nWorking with the Project team and assigned project engineer for the creation of full requirements definition for a product family lifecycle within the project planning activities for approval by the delegated authority.\n\nWorking in conjunction with Engineering, Operational, Commercial & Business Development teams to develop Basis of Estimates and Technical scope for internal and external proposals.\n\nProvide technical support within the Change & Obsolescence Management Processes\n\nActing at the Project Technical Lead and/or Engineer role for system level project for small sized projects.\n\nResolves ambiguity regarding technical issues within a single area or multiple areas of expertise including breaking down and defining project technical requirements for medium sized projects\n\nEnsuring through communication and teamwork with project teams that testing and validating of overall systems in completed and supports the overall strategic scope.\n\nCreating and peer reviewing engineering technical publications including drawings, schematics, safety documentation, engineering reports & operational materials related to the overall system design.\n\nConducting training to internal staff on the overall function and operations of the system of small systems.\n\nProvide recommendation, business cases, and proposals for technical aspects of long-range technical projects.\n\nAssisting in the development, maintenance, and execution of Technical Product RoadMaps.\n\nWork assignment will have critical deadlines.\n\nSkill Requirements:\nEssential Skills:\nAbility to read, understand, and interpret and modify engineering drawings, schematics, and BOM.\n\nTechnical writing for reports, work instructions, operational instructions, proposals, safety documentation, and training material\n\nGeneral multi-discipline technical knowledge which can be applied to an overall system.\n\nAdditional Assets Skills:\nBasic Finance & Engineering Economics\n\nTechnical Project Management - including planning & scheduling tools (Project Insight, MS Project, etc.)\n\nWhat You Bring\nEducation & Professional Membership:\nBachelor of Engineering or equivalent in any discipline\n\nProfessional membership in APEGA, or eligibility for membership.\n\nEligible to support company Permit to Practice responsibilities as required.\n\nWork Experience:\n10+ years of Engineering experience in design, development, testing, production support, or lifecycle sustainment of vehicle systems or electromechanical products.\n\n3+ years of technical leadership experience\n\n3+ years of project management experience.\n\nExperience in avionics, marine, vehicular military systems, uncrewed systems, and/or communication equipment is considered an asset.\n\nSecurity\nApplicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada and meet the eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain the Government of Canada security clearance required for the position\nMust be eligible for and maintain a clear background check, including criminal record screening, as required for security clearance\nWhy QinetiQ?\nWe offer a high-performing, inclusive work environment where you can thrive, contribute meaningfully, and be your authentic self.
