Join us as a Technical Author at our Boscombe Down site, where you will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in partnership with some of the most brilliant minds.\nThe Role\n As a Technical Author, you’ll be provisioning high-quality publications to support those installing, modifying, operating, maintaining, repairing and removing equipment.\nDay-to-day, you’ll provide internal and external customers with support documentation in accordance with Technical Publications procedures, Military Aviation Authority (MAA) publications MAM-P, MAM-D and S1000D/ATA iSpec 2200, which will enable them to safely and efficiently install, test, operate, maintain, repair and remove equipment for installations and modifications\nYour responsibilities will include:\nMilitary Aircraft: Making sure that the work produced meets customers’ specifications, Airworthiness requirements and publications standards of the MAA, MAM-P / MAM-D & Defence Guide for Technical Documentation\nCivil Aircraft: Making sure that the work produced meets customers’ specifications, Airworthiness requirements and publications standards of the CAA, S1000D & ATA iSpec 2200\nPlanning and prioritising own work, with guidance, to meet customers’ requirements\nMake sure that the work meets customers’ specifications, airworthiness requirements and publications standards\nAssessing compliance with MAA MAM-P & MAM-D and associated Regulatory Articles\nAssessing compliance with Civil Aviation standards (S1000D or ATA iSpec 2200)\nEssential experience of the Technical Author:\nQualified aircraft engineer or mechanical engineer or an equivalent level of know-how gained through experience\nA general knowledge of aircraft equipment, systems and documentation\nCompetence in the use of Microsoft Word and Adobe FrameMaker to an advanced level\nCompetence in the use of S1000D authoring tools and CSDB operations\nCompetence in the use of a graphics package such as CorelDraw, for the manipulation of bitmap and vector graphics\nEssential qualifications for the Technical Author:\nC&G or ONC/HNC in an appropriate technical subject or be able to demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge gained from an aircraft engineering environment\nCity and Guilds or equivalent in Technical Authoring\n\nWe value difference and we don’t have a fixed idea when it comes to background or education, provided you can show the required level of experience and willingness to learn then we would like to hear from you.\nThis role is 37 hours per week based at our Boscombe Down site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week.\nBoscombe Down\nMOD Boscombe Down is a unique operational site featuring the longest military runway in the UK. Primarily focusing on providing testing, evaluation and support services for aviation and aerospace systems.
