The Embedded Software Engineer will own the design, development, and test of digital logic and embedded software.\nThis position is in Germantown, MD (hybrid - 4 days in office per week)\nWhat you'll do\nLead the design, development, and test of systems composing of hardware, digital logic, embedded software, Linux kernel modules, and user-space Linux software\nAssist in the design, review, and debug of analog/mixed signal circuit boards\nDevelop a deep understanding of the domain (quantum random number generators, network security systems) to architect future products and systems and validate existing products and systems\nLead hardware/FPGA/software integration efforts\nDevelop manufacturing and test tools and procedures, and supervise their execution\nUse AI-assisted and agentic development tooling to accelerate your work while owning the correctness and quality of everything you ship\nHelp shape how the team adopts AI-assisted development (instruction conventions, review standards) as tooling matures\nAssist in project planning and management\nWhat you'll need\nBachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a similar technical field, (Math, Physics, Engineering) and/or relevant work experience\n4+ years of experience developing software for embedded platforms or the Linux kernel\nExpertise in the design and development of embedded systems\nProficiency with C, C++, bash and/or Python\nExperience in the installation, upgrade, configuration, and performance tuning of Linux-based servers\nExperience with bringing up hardware\nFamiliarity with FPGA development, Verilog or VHDL\nFamiliarity with RF and low-noise analog circuit and board design\nFamiliarity with electronics lab/test equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, etc.)\nFamiliarity with implementing signal processing and/or control system algorithms\nFluency with AI-assisted development and the judgment to apply it where it adds real leverage - reviewing, correcting, and taking full ownership of AI-generated work\nStrong written and verbal communication skills\nBenefits & Perks\nCompetitive Pay & Equity participation\nComprehensive health, dental and vision coverage\nStrong 401(k) match\nIn-office lunch and snacks\nThe opportunity to be part of a company solving one of the most critical technology challenges of our time!\nCompensation\nThe annual base pay range for this role is between $125,000 - $155,000. The actual base salary pay offered may vary based on multiple factors such as qualifications, experience, transferable skills, level of education, and other factors permitted by law.
