This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing the infrastructure, associated core systems and operating systems. The Senior Cloud Systems Engineer will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify,\ncommunicate, and resolve issues to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments.\nThis role can be based in Vancouver, BC, Toronto, ON, or Calgary, AB.\nResponsibilities:\nStrategy & Planning:\nCollaborate with onsite staff and outsourced managed services staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes.\n\nWork with decision makers and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals to identify and resolve business systems issues.\n\nAcquisition & Deployment:\nDesign and deploy new applications and enhancements to existing applications, software, and operating systems.\n\nPerform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions.\n\nConduct research on software and systems products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.\n\nInteract and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure system-related products and services.\n\nOperational Management:\nGauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.\n\nPropose and create system design models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to support teams.\n\nDesign and perform server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.\n\nIntegrate servers, including database, e-mail, print, and backup servers and their associated software into enterprise systems.\n\nEnsure system connectivity of all servers, shared software, groupware, and other applications.\n\nCreate and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.\n\nEnsure compatibility and interoperability of in-house and cloud-based computing systems.\n\nCoordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems.\n\nMonitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports.\n\nProvide orientation and training to end users for all modified and new systems.\n\nExperience and Qualifications:\nUniversity degree in computer science or software engineering and/or 10 years equivalent work experience.\n\nVery strong knowledge of deployment, management, and governance of cloud services across Azure (primarily), AWS, and GCP.\n\nFamiliarity with cloud networking concepts and technologies.\n\nIn-depth knowledge server operating systems, including Windows Server and Linux.\n\nExtensive experience with core infrastructure services, including PKI, AD, DNS, DHCP, SFTP, SMTP, WordPress, App Proxy, etc.\n\nStrong understanding of cloud and hybrid identity platforms and governance.\n\nProficiency administrating Microsoft 365, Fabric, Power Platforms, Dynamics 365, etc.\n\nProven experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software systems, applications, and related products.\n\nProven experience with systems planning, security principles, and general software management best practices.\n\nExcellent troubleshooting skills.\n\nCompetency with scripting across PowerShell (primarily), bash, and Python.\n\nGeneral knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws (ITGC/SOC).\n\nExperience developing and leading disaster recovery plans.\n\nUnderstanding of AI tools and technologies and how best to leverage them.\n\nGood project management skills.\n\nExcellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.\n\nAbility to conduct research into systems issues and products as required.\n\nAbility to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.\n\nHighly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.\n\nProven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.\n\nAble to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.\n\nStrong customer service orientation.\n\nAbility to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.\n\nWork Conditions:\nOn-call availability if required.\n\nSitting for extended periods of time.\n\nOccasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings.\n\nLifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.\n\nThis job posting is for an existing vacancy within our organization.\nThe expected annualized base salary range for this role is $100,000 - $120,000.\nBased on the position, QuadReal offers a competitive total rewards package in addition to the base pay, which may include a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental benefits, pension plan, and paid time off.\nThe actual salary offered will take into consideration a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the individual’s skill, experience, education and training, the market compensation of the role, and the consideration to internal equity.\nWe value diverse experiences and perspectives.
