Leveraging millimeter wave drilling, developed after more than a decade of research at MIT, Quaise’s mission is to make superhot geothermal a backbone of the modern energy system, offering affordable, zero-carbon power and true energy independence for communities and nations everywhere.\nThe Sr. Electronic Technician will support the assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of complex electronic systems, instrumentation, and controls used across our laboratories and field operations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical professional with strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and experience working with complex electronic assemblies, instrumentation, and communication systems.\nEssential functions (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.)\nAssemble, wire, troubleshoot, and maintain electronic systems, control panels, instrumentation, and laboratory equipment in accordance with engineering drawings and schematics.\nRead and interpret electronic, electrical, instrumentation, wiring, and mechanical drawings to support fabrication, testing, and system integration.\nFabricate, terminate, install, and troubleshoot instrumentation and communication cabling used throughout laboratory and field systems.\nUtilize electronic test equipment, calibration instruments, and hand tools to diagnose, repair, validate, and optimize system performance.\nTest electronic and electrical circuits for continuity, voltage, signal integrity, functionality, and overall system performance.\nAssemble, install, and maintain instrumentation used to measure pressure, temperature, flow, level, and other operational parameters.\nConduct quality inspections of fabricated components, assemblies, and wiring to verify compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards.\nSupport documentation efforts by accurately recording testing activities, modifications, repairs, calibration results, and fabrication processes.\nCollaborate effectively with engineers and technicians to troubleshoot issues, improve designs, and support commissioning activities.\nAssist with light mechanical assembly, fabrication, hose connections, and equipment installation during periods of reduced electronic workload.\nMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following established laboratory and field safety procedures.\nPerform other related duties as assigned.\nCompetencies\nStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.\nDemonstrated experience working with electronic assemblies, instrumentation, and diagnostic equipment.\nProficiency using multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, calibration equipment, and other electronic testing tools.\nExperience soldering, wiring, terminating, and assembling electronic components and circuit boards.\nHigh attention to detail with a commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.\nAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineering and operations teams.\nFamiliarity with startup or high-growth environments.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\nProficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.\nSupervisory responsibilities\nMay provide technical guidance and training to junior technicians.\nMay coordinate the work of contractors or vendors to ensure work is completed in accordance with project requirements.\nThis role does not include formal people-management responsibilities.\nEducation and Experience\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required.\nAssociate degree or technical certification in electronics, electrical technology, instrumentation, or a related field preferred.\n5+ years of experience in electronics, instrumentation, laboratory systems, or related technical roles.\nExperience troubleshooting complex electronic systems and instrumentation preferred.\nRelevant certifications in soldering, RF systems, electronics, instrumentation, or high-voltage systems are preferred.\nForklift and crane certification preferred.\n Physical requirements\nThe employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, as well as use hands to feel, reach, grasp, handle, or operate objects, tools and/or controls.\nThe employee must be able to lift, push, pull, transfer, or move items up 20 pounds at times for departmental needs.\nAbility to move from one worksite to another or travel to various job sites and locations to complete tasks.\nThe vision requirement includes reviewing written and electronic materials in digital and physical format.\nAbility to work safely around high voltage and high power systems, consistently prioritizing safe work environments and adhering to established safety protocols and procedures.\nOther duties\nPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities required of the employee for this job.
