You will collaborate with world-class architects and engineers to enable standards-based, production-ready platforms supporting modern datacenter deployments.\nJob Summary:\nQualcomm is seeking an experienced ARM Server Platform I/O & Interconnect Software Architect to lead the architecture and software enablement of PCIe, CXL, and Interrupt Controller subsystems for next-generation ARM server SoCs.\nThe ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in ARM server architecture, PCIe and CXL technologies, interrupt controller architecture (ARM GIC), virtualization, firmware, and Linux kernel internals. The candidate should be comfortable operating across the entire software stack including platform firmware, operating systems, virtualization, RAS, manageability, and performance optimization.\nAs a Software Architect, you will provide technical leadership across SoC architecture, platform firmware, HLOS, virtualization, validation, and customer enablement teams. You will be responsible for defining scalable software architectures that enable high performance, reliability, serviceability, virtualization, and ecosystem compliance for hyperscale datacenter deployments.\nMinimum Qualifications:\n• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 8+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.OR\nMaster's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 7+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.\nOR\nPhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.\n• 4+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.\n Key Responsibilities:\nOwn the software architecture for PCIe, CXL, and Interrupt Controller subsystems across ARM server platforms, including architecture definition, requirements, enablement strategy, and ecosystem alignment.\n\nDrive architecture and software enablement across firmware and HLOS components including:\n\nUEFI/EDK2\n\nArm Trusted Firmware (TF-A)\n\nOpenBMC\n\nLinux Kernel\n\nKVM/Hypervisors\n\nDatacenter operating systems and distributions\n\nCollaborate closely with SoC architects, CPU architects, hardware design teams, firmware teams, Linux kernel engineers, validation teams, and product management to deliver production-quality solutions.\n\nDefine platform software requirements necessary to achieve compliance with industry standards and specifications including:\n\nARM SBSA\n\nSBBR\n\nSystemReady\n\nPCI-SIG specifications\n\nCXL Consortium specifications\n\nACPI\n\nUEFI\n\nLead architecture reviews and drive software requirements into silicon, firmware, and platform design teams to ensure software-first design decisions.\n\nPartner with performance, RAS, and validation teams to define system-level debug, telemetry, error handling, fault isolation, and recovery strategies.\n\nDriveupstream-firstsoftware development and collaborate with the open-source ecosystem to ensure long-term maintainability and broad OS support.\n\nWork directly with hyperscale cloud customers, OEMs, ODMs, and ecosystem partners to understand requirements, review architectural solutions, and support platform commercialization.\n\nPrepare and present architecture proposals, design specifications, technical roadmaps, and executive-level reviews for internal and external stakeholders.\n\n Preferred Qualifications:\nMaster’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.\n\n10+ years of experience in systems software, platform firmware, operating systems, or SoC architecture.\n\nStrong understanding of ARM64 server architecture and modern server platform design.\n\nHands-on experience with:\n\nPCIe architecture and software enablement\n\nCXL architecture and ecosystem\n\nARM GIC interrupt architecture\n\nIOMMU/SMMU technologies\n\nStrong familiarity with:\n\nLinux kernel internals and device drivers\n\nKVM and virtualization technologies\n\nPlatform firmware (UEFI/EDK2, TF-A, BMC firmware)\n\nACPI and platform discoverability mechanisms\n\nExperience driving cross-functional architecture initiatives across hardware and software organizations.\n\n15+ years of experience in software development & design for commercially deployed compute platforms.\n\nDeep expertise in multiple areas including:\n\nPCIe Gen5/Gen6/Gen7\n\nCXL 2.x/3.x\n\nARM GICv3/v4\n\nSMMUv3\n\nARM virtualization architecture\n\nServer RAS technologies\n\nIn-depth knowledge of ARM architectures for various compute environments and relevantARM (BSA, BBR,BBSR)andNISTspecifications.\n\nUnderstanding of confidential computing technologies and trusted firmware architectures.\n\nPrior experience delivering platform software forhyperscalers, cloud service providers, OEMs, or datacenter infrastructure products.\n\nDemonstrated leadership in open-source software communities and upstream Linux development.\n\nStrong debugging, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.\n\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\n\nQualcomm is an equal opportunity employer.
