These prototypes/platforms are end-to-end systems that enable the characterization and demonstration of advanced technologies, improved application-performance and user experience, usage of Qualcomm's compute platforms, leverage of open-source libraries wherever applicable, and pre-commercial inter-operability trials and showcases with industry-partners. It requires advanced SW development across a multitude of domains, layers, and platforms.\nThe team is looking for a Software Engineer to develop and integrate embedded SW for advanced algorithms and standardized/standards-proposed protocols, primarily on general purpose compute servers that sit above RF and baseband. In this role, you will design, develop, and integrate features that meet the division's objectives. You will be working in a fast-paced, intellectually challenging work environment. Successful applicants will be creative, enthusiastic innovators who are equally comfortable with researching new technologies and implementing software as well as tools towards cutting edge research as well as products.\nMinimum Qualifications:\n• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.Principal duties and responsibilities:\nDesign, develop, integrate, and maintain embedded software across the full development lifecycle. The work output typically targets technology characterization, operator trials, demos, and industry showcases.\n\nInteract with system architects to understand high level system design and requirements and subsequently synthesize software designs\n\nContribute to technical design and reviews, providing engineering input on architecture, design trade-offs, schedules, and risk areas.\n\nPerform on-target and off-target development and debugging, using standard embedded debug tools and techniques to diagnose and resolve functional, performance, and stability issues.\n\nOptimize performance and timing constraints in real-time embedded systems\n\nCreate and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including design descriptions, architecture specifications, usage and release notes.\n\nContribute to subsystem-level integration and testing. This also provides a hands-on opportunity, under the guidance of experts, to gain a broader and deeper understanding of the overall system beyond your immediate area of work.\n\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including but not limited to system architects, baseband and RF SW engineers, test engineers\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\nBachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field\n\nProficiency in C/C++ programming, and Object-oriented software design and development\n\nUnderstanding of multi-threading, OS fundamentals\n\nAnalytical and problem-solving skills\n\nAbility to communicate technical ideas and work status (estimates, risks, dependencies) clearly, both verbally and in writing\n\nAbility to work effectively across teams in a fast-paced, collaborative and diverse software engineering environment\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\nMaster's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering OR 2 years of work experience in an Embedded Software Engineering field\n\nFamiliarity in debugging using tools such as gdb, perf, etc., doing log-analysis to determine root cause\n\nExperience analyzing and optimizing CPU utilization, latency, and throughput\n\nExperience with distributed systems, client-server architectures, or cloud/edge computing\n\nExperience developing or integrating end-to-end applications\n\nKnowledge of network protocols, wireless systems, QoS frameworks, protocols such as 5G NR, LTE, and 802.11\n\nAptitude to seek and adopt productivity enhancement processes/tools (AI-based & other) on top of a strong foundation of technical and programming skills.\n\nQualcomm is an equal opportunity employer.
