As a Qualcomm Hardware Application Engineer, you will provide technical expertise of hardware through training, product demonstrations, and the design, debug, test, and quality support of customer products. In this role, you will also design and develop hardware solutions for Qualcomm IE-IOT SoC platforms, bridging deep technical knowledge with hands-on engineering execution to deliver robust, market-ready products. Qualcomm Hardware Application Engineers collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess the potential application of company products that meet and exceed customer needs.\nPRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nDesign, develop, and evaluate electronic systems for Qualcomm IE-IOT SoC platforms, including Digital and Analog circuits for IoT and industrial computing applications.\nDevelop schematics, PCB layouts, and design reviews; perform component selections and guide PCB layout execution for retail and industrial electronic equipment.\nCollaborate with internal or third-party manufacturing contacts to fabricate and bring up hardware systems.\nWork closely with cross-functional teams (mechanical, thermal, SI, PTE, regulatory, validation, manufacturing, etc.) and ODMs for execution of projects from concept to production.\nConduct detailed reviews and analysis of designs to ensure implementation meets appropriate power, performance, area, compliance, and cost requirements.\nCoordinate and perform specialized analyses (e.g., feasibility studies, signal integrity, power integrity) to verify design performance.\nTest development systems to ensure performance and compliance requirements are met, and support functional validation including issues triage and root cause analysis.\nProvide technical training for customers and ODMs, including product demonstrations and technical guidance on hardware design.\nFacilitate consensus on technical trade-offs at hardware, software, and design levels across cross-functional teams.\nDevelop and support customer-specific hardware and system requirements in collaboration with internal teams and ODMs.\nPrepare and present technical documentation, design reviews, and execution status updates to stakeholders.\nResolve architecture and design issues across system and card levels, and contribute to the debug and bring-up of hardware systems.\nParticipate in determining objectives of assignments and plan, schedule, and arrange own activities in accomplishing objectives.\nREQUIRED COMPETENCIES:\n(All competencies are required upon entry)\nBoard-Level Hardware Design\nProficiency in electronic system design including hardware system design, system integration, schematic capture, and circuit simulation software.\nExperience with PCB design for high-speed, multi-layer stack-ups encompassing application processors, digital processors, and power delivery networks.\nFamiliarity with COTs IoT interfaces and advanced manufacturing techniques (e.g., stacked micro-vias, sequential lamination).\nHigh-Speed Interfaces & Signal Integrity\nKnowledge of high-speed serial I/O, PCIe, LPDDR/DDR memory interfaces, USB, MIPI, HDMI, and GbE interfaces.\nExperience with signal integrity and power integrity analysis and compliance requirements.\nHardware Validation & Debug\nHands-on experience with hardware validation and standard measurement instruments (e.g., oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers).\nProven ability to independently lead or support hardware bring-up, debug, and root cause analysis.\nCollaboration & Communication\nStrong collaboration skills with internal cross-functional teams and external ODM/JDM partners.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to prepare and deliver design reviews and technical documentation.\nEffective multitasking ability to meet aggressive schedules in a dynamic environment.\nTools\nProficient in schematic capture and PCB layout tools such as Cadence Allegro, Siemens/Mentor Xpedition, or Altium.\nProficient with all MS Office 365 tools; understanding of how to use AI to efficiently solve engineering problems.\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:\nBachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or related field and 4+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.\nOR Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or related field and 3+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\nMaster's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.\n7+ years of hardware engineering or systems development experience, or related work experience.\n4+ years of experience with circuit design (e.g., digital, analog, RF) and schematic capture/circuit simulation software.\n4+ years of experience with hardware design and measurement instruments such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and debug tools, etc.\nExperience with hardware system validation and a breadth of standard measurement instruments.\nExperience in the IoT industry;
