You will focus on Linux kernel development, platform bring-up, boot firmware integration, device drivers, system enablement, and low-level debugging, collaborating closely with silicon, validation, and software teams to ensure reliable platform operation, performance, and observability.\nTechnical Skills and Expertise\nStrong understanding of Linux internals, including scheduling, memory management, interrupt handling, filesystems, and system initialization.\n\nProficiency in C, ARM Assembly, and Linux build systems.\n\nExperience with Linux kernel development, debugging, and customization.\n\nUnderstanding of SoC boot flows, bootloaders, firmware, and Linux bring-up.\n\nExperience with Linux Device Tree development and board/platform configuration.\n\nHands-on experience with hardware debugging tools such as JTAG debuggers (i.e. Lauterbach Trace32 [T32]), or equivalent.\n\nExperience developing telemetry, monitoring, and instrumentation tools for system debugging, performance analysis, and validation.\n\nExperience with Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages for automation and tooling.\n\nFamiliarity with Git, CI/CD workflows, and modern software development practices.\n\nExperience with filesystem management, image creation/modification, flashing, and software deployment processes.\n\nRole and Responsibilities\nEnable and maintain a custom Linux software stack used for platform enablement, validation, and characterization.\n\nDevelop, maintain, and optimize kernel drivers and low-level platform software.\n\nDebug complex issues spanning hardware, firmware, bootloaders, Linux kernel, and userspace components.\n\nDevelop and maintain Device Tree configurations and platform-specific software components.\n\nDesign and implement telemetry, monitoring, and automation tools to improve system observability and diagnostics.\n\nBuild tooling that interacts with hardware debuggers and platform interfaces to collect, analyze, and automate system data collection.\n\nCollaborate with silicon, firmware, performance, and validation teams to identify, root-cause, and resolve platform issues.\n\nDevelop tools and workflows that improve platform stability, usability, and engineering productivity.\n\nLevel of Responsibility\nAutonomy: Work independently with minimal supervision while driving platform enablement and debugging efforts.\n\nCommunication: Communicate complex technical concepts effectively across multidisciplinary teams.\n\nInfluence: Contribute to platform architecture, software design, and debugging methodologies.\n\nTask Management: Manage multiple bring-up, development, and support activities across hardware programs.\n\nInnovation: Develop new tools, telemetry solutions, and automation frameworks to improve engineering efficiency.\n\nProblem Solving: Diagnose and resolve complex hardware/software integration issues across the full platform stack.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nMaster's degree or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.\n\n5+ years of experience in Linux kernel development, embedded Linux, BSP development, platform enablement, or systems software.\n\nExperience with hardware bring-up, post-silicon validation, or low-level platform debugging.\n\nExperience using Lauterbach Trace32 (T32) or similar hardware debug environments.\n\nExperience developing telemetry, observability, or performance monitoring solutions for embedded or high-performance systems.\n\nWhere you will be working\nCork has a proud reputation as Ireland's second largest economic engine and is now one of the Top 20 location choices in Europe with 39,000 people being employed by over 170 overseas companies.\nThere's a growing diversity in the region with people from many nationalities relocating to Cork, relishing the opportunity to work and live in a location that offers an excellent quality of life.\nA gateway to Europe, Cork airport provides access to almost 50 international destinations including transatlantic air routes.\nEqual Opportunities\nWe are an Equal Opportunity employer;
