In this role, you will own the design, performance, availability, and security of a heterogeneous database estate spanning enterprise relational, NoSQL and cloud technologies deployed across on-premises data centers and the cloud. You will partner with application teams, SREs, security, and infrastructure engineers to ensure our data tier meets the demands of a 24x7 global business.\nWhat You'll Do\nOperate, maintain and manage Oracle databases and other database platforms including Elasticsearch, Vertica, Cassandra, Snowflake, PostgreSQL), on-prem and in AWS.\n\nDesign and Implement HA/DR solutions; Data Guard, RAC and replication.\n\nOwn backup, patching and upgrade lifecycles; build automation that replaces manual activities.\n\nMonitor health and performance with Oracle Enterprise Manager, Datadog and Prometheus.\n\nEnforce database security, access controls, and automated compliance reporting.\n\nPlan capacity and lead database migrations between versions, platforms, and clouds.\n\nManage incidents, changes, and problems in ServiceNow; resolve tickets within SLA and document resolutions clearly.\n\nPeriodically participate in weekend on-call rotation and planned patching and maintenance activities.\n\nRequired Qualifications\n3+ years of database administration work experience with a bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of database administration work experience without a bachelor's degree.\n\nProduction Oracle DBA experience on Linux/UNIX: installation, patching, RMAN backup/recovery, and performance tuning.\n\nExpertise in at least one additional NoSQL or relational platform (Elasticsearch, Vertica, Cassandra, Snowflake, Postgres).\n\nOracle HA and replication experience (Data Guard & RAC).\n\nStrong fundamentals in database architecture, replication, clustering, and backup/recovery.\n\nExperience implementing high-availability and disaster-recovery solutions.\n\nScripting for automation (Python, Bash).\n\nStrong communication and documentation skills; able to explain complex issues to non-DBA audiences.\n\nExperience working with globally distributed teams and supporting workloads across multiple time zones.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nOracle Certified Professional (OCP) or equivalent certification.\n\nHands-on experience operating databases in the cloud, including managed database services\n\nITSM experience using ServiceNow (or equivalent) for incident, change, and problem management; familiarity with ITIL service-operations workflows.\n\nContainerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipeline experience for database delivery.\n\nFamiliarity with observability stacks; Datadog, Prometheus\n\nExperience mentoring or leading a small technical team.\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\n• 3+ years of IT-related work experience with a Bachelor's degree.OR\n5+ years of IT-related work experience without a Bachelor’s degree.\nApplicants: Qualcomm is an equal opportunity employer.
