This role focuses on the mechanical design of a number of IOT form factor product platforms. The successful candidate will contribute to IOT product development lifecycle, from early concept and detailed design, to prototype builds, ODM collaboration, and sustaining engineering.\nKey Responsibilities:\nDesign and develop mechanical IOT product FFA platforms supporting next-generation IOT architectures.\nInterface with ODM / OEM partners across the IOT space to help define the next gen IOT industrial HW applications\nOwn detailed mechanical design, including 3D CAD models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings.\nCreating, documenting, sourcing, building, and sustaining mechanical server assembly BOMs.\nCoordinating/sourcing prototype and production plastic, sheet metal, die-cast, and CNC machined mechanical assembly components including housings, heatsinks, cables, fixtures, chassis, etc.\nInterface with vendors and manufacturing partners to ensure design for manufacturability and support timely build schedules.\nCommunicate and collaborate effectively with dynamic multi-disciplinary teams in various geographical regions.\nDevelop effective thermal, structural, and tolerance analyses of mechanical assemblies.\nEffectively communicate and collaborate with multi-disciplinary design and supply chain teams across various geographical regions.\nWork onsite minimum 5 days/week in the Qualcomm office in San Diego, CA\nThis senior mechanical engineer will interface with internal staff and outside suppliers in the fast-paced execution of a wide variety of multi-disciplined design projects.\nBSME or equivalent from accredited college\n3+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience\nProficiency with 3D CAD tools (CREO or equivalent)\nExperience designing CNC machined, sheet metal, die-cast, and injection-molded components.\nWorking knowledge of mechanical documentation, tolerancing, and GD&T.\n Minimum Qualifications:\n• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and 2+ years of Mechanical Engineering or related work experience.OR\nMaster's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and 1+ year of Mechanical Engineering or related work experience.\nOR\nPhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field.\nBSME or equivalent from accredited college\n3+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience\nProficiency with 3D CAD tools (CREO or equivalent)\nExperience designing CNC machined, sheet metal, die-cast, and injection-molded components.\nWorking knowledge of mechanical documentation, tolerancing, and GD&T.\nStrong understanding of mechanical data-center hardware design fundamentals.\n5+ years 3D solid modelling design tools experience utilizing CREO, Solid works, or equivalent platforms.\n3+ years of design experience with plastic injection molded, die cast, chassis sheet metal, and CNC machined parts.\n3+ years of experience developing mechanical constraints for printed circuit board assemblies.\n3+ years electro-mechanical design experience.\nExperience using 3D thermal analysis software like Flowtherm or Icepak.\nExperience with structural analysis FEA tools.\nExperience with tolerance stack analysis of complex assemblies.\n2+ years of data-center chassis and rack design experience.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nTop-down solid modelling experience with 3D design databases.\nDesign constraint (EMN file) transfer experience between 3D CAD and PCB electronic CAD designs.\nTest/assembly fixture design experience\nExperience with PDM systems (Agile preferred) for BOM and project management.\nBSME (Bachelors - Mechanical Engineering) required\nQualcomm is an equal opportunity employer.
