This role combines hands-on technical execution with cross-functional leadership, helping engineering, IT, cloud, product, and security teams identify risk, implement durable controls, and improve the organization’s overall security posture.\nThe role operates with a high degree of independence, taking ownership of security outcomes and making decisions that impact systems, projects, and operational effectiveness. The engineer is expected to apply strong adversarial thinking, reason through ambiguous problems, and deliver scalable solutions across enterprise and cloud environments.\nThe ideal candidate has broad cybersecurity engineering experience, depth in one or more major domains, and the ability to lead complex security initiatives without requiring direct management authority.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead the design and implementation of security controls across applications, cloud infrastructure, identity systems, networks, endpoints, and enterprise platforms.\nOwn and evolve core cybersecurity platforms, including integration, automation, and lifecycle management of security tooling and services.\nDevelop and automate security tooling, detection logic, workflows, and validation processes.\nBuild cohesive security capabilities by integrating systems, telemetry, and controls.\nSupport incident response and investigations with technical analysis and remediation guidance.\nIdentify vulnerabilities and drive remediation strategies.\nDefine and improve secure engineering standards, architectures, and guardrails.\nImprove observability through logging, detection engineering, and monitoring.\nApply threat modeling and adversarial thinking to strengthen defenses.\nLead technical discussions and mentor engineers.\nRequired Qualifications\n8+ years of hands-on cybersecurity engineering experience.\nExperience leading complex security initiatives as a senior individual contributor.\nExpertise in multiple security domains such as cloud, IAM, or detection engineering.\nStrong knowledge of AWS, Azure, and GCP environments.\nExperience securing production systems and modern architectures.\nAbility to write scripts or code for automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell).\nExperience with threat modeling, vulnerability management, and incident response.\nStrong communication and ability to operate independently.\nCore Competencies\nEngineering execution and automation\nSystems thinking and integration\nAdversarial thinking and detection mindset\nCloud and infrastructure security\nRisk-based decision making\nOwnership and accountability\nInfluence and technical leadership\nCommunication and documentation\nMinimum Qualifications:\n• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of cybersecurity-relevant work experience.OR\nHigh school diploma or equivalent and 5+ years of cybersecurity-relevant work experience.\nApplicants: Qualcomm is an equal opportunity employer.
