Today, through our business customers across the country, millions of consumers use Qualia to close on homes every year.\nWHAT YOU'LL WORK ON\nQualia's accounting function sits at the center of a fast-growing SaaS business navigating complex revenue arrangements, evolving GAAP guidance, and M&A activity. This role owns the technical accounting, financial reporting, and provides deal support from due diligence through post-close integration. The role is also instrumental in supporting operational accounting.\nYou'll work closely with Business Development, Legal, Tax, FP&A, and the Controller to make sure technical conclusions are sound, documented, and reflected correctly in the financials.\nThis role reports to the Controller.\nRESPONSIBILITIES\nTechnical Accounting and Reporting\nResearch and document complex accounting matters under U.S. GAAP\nDraft and maintain technical accounting memos and accounting policy documentation\nOwn financial statements including footnote disclosures\nServe as key contributor in annual financial statement audits\nAdvise on complex accounting topics, including revenue recognition, equity transactions, debt modifications, business combinations, consolidation, and impairment analyses\nMonitor emerging accounting standards and assess applicability to the company\nLead the resolution of complex technical corporate accounting matters across the monthly and quarterly close\nAssist the Accounting Team in implementing processes needed to support technical conclusions, e.g. proper journal entries, reconciliations, clear ownership, and effective controls\nAnticipate emerging accounting standards, shape accounting policy and change-management efforts, and translate new guidance into practical implementation strategies, financial statement disclosures, reporting calendars, and scalable reporting processes\nSpecial Projects\nLead purchase accounting activities under ASC 805, including valuation coordination, opening balance sheet review, and transaction accounting. Prepare related technical accounting memoranda supporting transaction-related conclusions\nExplore/support accounting policy changes that may benefit the company\nParticipate in process improvements across accounting operations\nLead ad hoc projects as needed\nOperational Accounting Support\nSupport the monthly closes, eg financial reviews, variance analysis\nAssist with complex account reconciliations\nAssist revenue team in ensuring compliance with ASC 606\nAssist in reviewing non-standard, complex customer contracts and associated outcomes in automated systems\nYOUR BACKGROUND THAT LIKELY MAKES YOU A MATCH\n5+ years of relevant accounting experience and CPA are required\nBig 4 public accounting or equivalent national firm experience is required\nPrevious consulting, audit, or industry experience with SaaS, fintech, or payments companies is required\nTechnical knowledge and hands-on experience with ASC 606 is required\nWorking knowledge of ASC 805 (purchase accounting) is required\nProven track record of researching complex accounting matters, drafting technical accounting documentation, and advising leadership on accounting implications\nComfort with ambiguity, adaptability to dynamic priorities, and ability to lead ad-hoc special projects outside standard accounting responsibilities\nAI-forward: Actively uses AI tools (e.g., Claude, Gemini) to accelerate documentation, testing, and evidence workflows; both experimenting, and ultimately operationalizing\nBased in San Francisco, CA or Austin, TX, with the ability to work in the office a minimum of two days per week is required.\nThis role has a base annual salary of $130,000-$185,000 plus a competitive equity and benefits package.
