In this role, the candidate will design and detail mat and pier type foundations for substation structures. Additionally, the candidate will design substation structures ranging from simple equipment supports to overhead line towers. All work will be performed with emphasis on quality and project costs following client’s requirements and internal company’s quality control and quality assurance practices.\nThe candidate may also complete substation designs, as necessary. Work will include applying applicable codes and client standards to design general arrangements, equipment and electrical layouts, elevation views, grading and fence plans, foundation plan and details, substation rigid bus arrangements, structure details, and bills of material.\nResponsibilities\nDevelop overall conceptual design plans in the initial development phase of new projects.\n\nWork with renewable energy developers and other clients with support specific to schedules and cost estimates.\n\nDesign foundations using commercially available software such as LPILE.\n\nDevelop steel structure models for rigid bus and equipment supports.\n\nPerform company’s Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes.\n\nEstablish and maintain professional relationships with our external business partners; Present information and respond to questions from individual or groups of clients.\n\nDirect and/or participate in client meetings/job site visits to collect or deliver design and engineering data.\n\nMentor less experienced staff on a wide range of technical and project management skills.\n\nCoordinate with other engineering disciplines.\n\nMinimum Qualifications\nBachelors of science or master's in civil engineering from an ABET accredited institution\n\n4+ years of experience performing civil structural engineering calculations.\n\nProficient with drafting programs such as AutoCAD and MicroStation a plus. \n\nExperience in transmission, distribution and generating stations is a plus.\n\nMust have strong analytical and computer skills.
