This role operates at the intersection of software engineering and operations, applying automation, observability, and reliability engineering practices to maintain highly available systems and improve customer experience.\nWHERE THIS ROLE SITS\nThe SRE role partners closely with Engineering, DevOps, Infrastructure, and Security teams to ensure the engineering systems remain resilient, scalable, and operationally efficient.\nWHAT YOU WILL DO\nReliability and Operations\nMaintain highly available and scalable applications and services.\nMonitor application and infrastructure health using observability tools.\nRespond to incidents, troubleshoot deployment issues, and perform root cause analysis.\nParticipate in on-call rotations and incident response processes.\nTrack and improve service reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency.\nAutomation and Platform Engineering\nCreate automation scripts and tooling to reduce manual operational effort.\nSupport deployments, configuration management, and operational workflows.\nLeverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices for repeatable infrastructure management.\nContinuously improve operational processes through automation and self-service capabilities.\nCollaboration and Continuous Improvement\nCollaborate with development teams to improve resilience and operational readiness.\nDocument system architectures, operational procedures, and best practices.\nDrive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability and operational excellence.\nWHAT GOOD LOOKS LIKE\nUses automation to eliminate repetitive operational tasks.\nResponds effectively to incidents and drives meaningful root cause analysis.\nCollaborates effectively across engineering and infrastructure teams.\nContinuously improves platform reliability, scalability, and observability.\nDISTINGUISHING EXPECTATION\nThe SRE is measured by improvements in reliability, automation, operational efficiency, and service availability. Success is demonstrated through proactive problem prevention, reduced operational burden, and continuous improvement of production systems.\nREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS\nBachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).\nExperience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, Systems Engineering, or Cloud Infrastructure roles.\nKnowledge of Linux/Unix systems administration.\nExperience with cloud platforms such as AWS, OCI, or Google Cloud Platform.\nProficiency in Python, Go, Bash, Java, or similar scripting/programming languages.\nExperience with Docker and Kubernetes.\nFamiliarity with Terraform, CloudFormation, or other IaC tools.\nExperience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub, or Bitbucket.\nExperience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, AppDynamics, ELK, or Splunk.\nUnderstanding networking, security, and distributed systems concepts.\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\nKnowledge of reliability engineering principles and automation best practices.\nCloud certifications.\nExperience with incident management and postmortem culture.\nWORK ENVIRONMENT\nFull-time role.\nOn-call participation required.\nHybrid or remote flexibility, depending on company policy.\nCross-functional collaboration with engineering and operations teams.\nABOUT QUALYS\nQualys, Inc. is a pioneer and leading provider of cloud-based IT, security, and compliance solutions, serving more than 10,000 customers across over 130 countries.
