The Assistant Project Manager - Substation is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of projects, including assisting with schedules, budgets, and project documentation. This role works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field leadership to ensure all project activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with scope and schedule requirements. This position is site based in Amarillo, TX, working in the office, and may include extended hours, and working in varying field conditions.\nWhat You'll Do\nProject Planning & Coordination\nAssist Project Managers with planning, scheduling, and coordinating substation construction projects, including site preparation, foundations, structural steel erection, ground grid, bus work, and electrical equipment installation.\nHelp develop and maintain detailed project schedules and monitor progress throughout the project lifecycle.\nCoordinate with subcontractors, vendors, clients, and internal teams to support successful project execution.\nEstimating & Project Documentation\nSupport estimating efforts with substation takeoffs, proposals, and project submittals.\nPrepare, track, and manage Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, and project documentation.\nParticipate in client meetings, project planning sessions, and internal coordination meetings.\nProject Tracking & Reporting\nMonitor project schedules, budgets, resource availability, and key milestones.\nTrack permitting, material deliveries, and equipment status.\nPrepare regular project status reports highlighting progress, risks, and potential challenges.\nOperations Support\nPartner with Project Managers and Superintendents to keep projects running efficiently.\nCoordinate timesheets, invoices, purchase orders, expense reports, and procurement documentation.\nAssist with material procurement and equipment logistics to support field operations.\nWhat You'll Bring\nSubstation construction experience is a strong plus.\nUnderstanding of project scheduling, budgeting, and project documentation.\nFamiliarity with substation construction components and terminology (site preparation, foundations, structural steel, ground grid, bus work, and electrical equipment installation) is beneficial.\nFamiliarity with billing processes, Accounts Payable (AP), and Accounts Receivable (AR) is beneficial.\nStrong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic field and office environment.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office and project scheduling software.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.\nWillingness to travel to project sites as needed.\nWhat You'll Get\nAs a Quanta Services employee, we offer a wide range of benefits to fit your needs.\n401(k) with immediate matching and vesting\nFully comprehensive benefits packages; Medical, Dental, VisionYour choice of PPO, HSA, FSA\n\nShort term and long term benefits\nEmployee discounts on consumer goods\nEqual Opportunity Employer\nAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment and will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin or ancestry, sex (including gender, pregnancy, sexual orientation, and/or gender identity), age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, and/or any other basis protected by applicable federal, state or local law.We are an Equal Opportunity Employer, including disability and protected veteran status.
