Discover how your skills and dedication can make a real difference to us.\nAbout this Role\nThe Project Controller is responsible for the financial oversight and tracking of assigned NorthStar Energy Services Engineering projects, including monitoring cost and spend against budget, processing and reconciling subcontractor and intercompany invoicing, and maintaining accurate job cost records across project life cycles. This role serves as a key point of coordination between Operations, Accounting, and Project Management, ensuring project financials are current, accurate, and audit-ready at all times. The Project Controller will also provide direct support to the proposal, scheduling, and project administration functions, helping the team move efficiently from bid to close-out.\nWhat You'll Do\nTrack and maintain project cost and spend totals across all assigned jobs, comparing actuals to budget/forecast and flagging variances to Project Managers and leadership.\nMaintain job cost records in Spectrum and forecasting/reporting tools (e.g., EcoSys), ensuring job numbers, AFE numbers, and cost codes are set up correctly and kept current.\nReview, code, and process subcontractor invoices for accuracy against contract terms, purchase orders, and completed work; resolve discrepancies with subcontractors and field staff.\nPrepare, review, and reconcile intercompany invoicing between NorthStar and affiliated Quanta operating companies, ensuring timely and accurate billing.\nSupport monthly cost forecasting, job cost reporting, and margin analysis in partnership with Project Managers and Accounting.\nAssist with change order tracking and ensure approved changes are reflected in job budgets and billings.\nSupport proposal development by compiling historical cost data, pricing exhibits, and other supporting documentation for bids and change orders.\nAssist Project Managers with schedule tracking and updates, helping monitor milestones, key dates, and look-ahead schedules.\nPrepare and distribute meeting minutes and action item logs for project status, client, and internal coordination meetings.\nMaintain organized project files, documentation, and reporting in accordance with company and client requirements.\nAssist with month-end close activities, including accruals, WIP schedules, and job cost reconciliations.\nSupport internal and external audits by providing project cost documentation and back-up as requested.\nPerform other project controls and administrative duties as assigned.\nWhat You'll Bring\nAssociate or bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.\n2+ years of experience in project controls, project accounting, cost engineering, or a related role, ideally within pipeline, utility, or heavy civil construction.\nWorking knowledge of job costing concepts, including WIP, cost-to-complete, and revenue recognition on construction/service contracts.\nExperience with ERP/job cost systems such as Spectrum, EcoSys, Viewpoint, or similar; strong Excel skills required.\nFamiliarity with subcontractor invoicing, lien waivers, and intercompany billing processes is a plus.\nStrong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.\nClear, professional written and verbal communication skills; comfortable interfacing with Operations, Accounting, subcontractors, and clients.\nAbility to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and escalate issues proactively.\nWhat You'll Get\nAs a Quanta Services employee, we offer a wide range of benefits to fit your needs.\n401(k) with immediate matching and vesting\nFully comprehensive benefits packages; Medical, Dental, VisionYour choice of PPO, HSA, FSA\n\nShort term and long-term benefits\nEmployee discounts on consumer goods\nEqual Opportunity Employer\nAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment and will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin or ancestry, sex (including gender, pregnancy, sexual orientation, and/or gender identity), age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, and/or any other basis protected by applicable federal, state or local law.We are an Equal Opportunity Employer, including disability and protected veteran status.
