We are looking for experimental scientists with hands-on experience building and operating complex atomic physics systems, taking and analyzing datasets, and collaboration across disciplines. The ideal candidate will have intimate knowledge of one or more advanced laboratory techniques for controlling quantum systems, which could include precision laser spectroscopy, atomic or molecular beams, or cryogenic UHV systems. They will also have excellent communication and collaboration skills as they are working with teams of engineers and other scientists to develop and test new concepts. Our scientists are thought leaders in the field, publishing papers and presenting research to peers.\nAll applicants for placement in safety-sensitive positions will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug test.\nKey Responsibilities:\nWork directly with other experimentalists and engineers to conceptualize, design, build, and validate atomic sources for trapped ion quantum computers\nCommunicate ground-breaking results both internally and externally through publications and presentations\nDevelop, implement, and oversee best scientific practices across the experimental team\nYOU MUST HAVE:\nPhD completed prior to start\nMinimum of 5+ years (PhD inclusive) of atomic physics experience\nDue to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person, defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status\nDue to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People’s Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.\nWE VALUE:\nExperience working with magneto-optical traps, atomic or molecular beams, and other cold atom techniques\nExperience working with trapped ions\nExperience working with quantum computing hardware\nExperience performing simulation and modeling to inform experiments\nExperience programming experimental control systems for data collection, signal processing, and data analysis\nFormal background in experimental physics with a proven track record of solving outstanding and challenging problems\nExcellent written and oral communication skills, with published results within their field of research.\nAs a top candidate, you will have strong organizational and leadership
