The ideal candidate will have experience addressing technical challenges related to ion transport in surface ion traps. In this role, you will perform numerical simulations and modeling of advanced ion transport methods, provide technical input to ion trap fabrication efforts, related electronic control system development projects, and collaborate with teams performing experimental characterization and validation of ion transport concepts in the laboratory.\nQuantinuum believes that employees work better, more efficiently and more collaboratively in close proximity to other employees, where ideas can be exchanged readily, and decisions can be made more quickly for the benefit of the Company and our customers. safety-sensitive positions will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug test.\nKey Responsibilities:\nDevelop cutting-edge ion transport methods through numerical simulation and modeling.\nCreate and maintain software tools to enable key features of ion transport waveform design.\nProvide technical input into ion trap top-metal geometry to support novel ion transport methods.\nReview scientific results from development efforts to identify areas for further investigation.\nPerform trade studies and technical analyses.\nPresent scientific results at conferences and in peer-reviewed publications.\nDevelop project plans, schedules, and budgets to support execution of broader company objectives.\nYOU MUST HAVE:\nPhD completed prior to starting. \nMinimum of 5 years’ experience (PhD inclusive) involving one or more of the following areas: ion transport, quantum computing, experimental control system development, quantum information, atomic physics, electronics design, ion trap design, or ion trap fabrication.\nExperience with numerical simulation of physical systems using Python or other related software tools.\nDue to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status\nDue to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.\nWE VALUE:\n8+ years of experience in scientific research and development, engineering, or a related field.\nExperience with numerical simulation of electrostatic systems.\nExperience with ion transport in surface ion traps.\nExperience with neutral atom transport.\nExperience with electronic signal generation, filtering, and/or signal processing.\nExperience with trapping of ions or neutral atoms.\nExperience with surface ion trap fabrication methods.\nExperience with software management and collaboration tools and techniques.\nExperience organizing and maintaining software projects or packages.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong publication record in their field of
