This role drives execution of 5S and visual management standards, leads Gemba-based continuous improvement activities, and ensures laboratory and prototype capabilities enable efficient product development, process maturation, and manufacturing readiness.\nThe Supervisor serves as a hands-on leader who coordinates technicians, machinists, inspectors, and lab support personnel while maintaining a safe, organized, and high-performing work environment. This role partners closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Facilities, HSE, and Production teams to support research, development, prototype builds, and manufacturing scale-up activities.\nAll applicants for placement in safety-sensitive positions will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug test.\nKey Responsibilities:\nCoordinate workload across machine shop, prototype fabrication, inspection, and laboratory support functions.\nOversee laboratory operations, equipment utilization, safety compliance, housekeeping, and maintenance activities.\nEnsure laboratories are organized, controlled, and maintained to support development and production activities.\nEstablish standards for equipment calibration, maintenance, asset control, and user training.\nSupport laboratory expansion, relocation, and infrastructure improvement projects.\nDrive improvements in machining efficiency, throughput, scheduling, and capacity planning.\nPartner with engineering teams to optimize designs for manufacturability and prototyping effectiveness.\nOversee receiving, in-process, and final inspection activities supporting engineering and manufacturing operations.\nEnsure inspection resources, tooling, measurement systems, and methods meet organizational requirements.\nDrive standardization of inspection practices and documentation.\nSupport calibration management and metrology best practices.\nOwn facility-wide 5S implementation and sustainment initiatives.\nConduct routine audits and establish accountability for workplace organization standards.\nDevelop visual management systems supporting safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives.\nLead corrective actions and continuous improvement projects resulting from audit findings.\nLead regular Gemba walks across laboratories, machine shops, prototype areas, and support functions.\nFacilitate identification and resolution of safety, quality, flow, and productivity issues.\nPromote a strong safety culture through leadership, training, and accountability.\nEnsure compliance with company safety policies, laboratory protocols, and regulatory requirements.\nSupervise, coach, and develop technicians, machinists, inspectors, and support staff.\nEstablish performance expectations and provide regular feedback and development opportunities.\nYOU MUST HAVE:\nMinimum High School Diploma/GED required\nMinimum 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, laboratory operations, prototyping, machine shop, or technical operations environments.\nMinimum 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.\nMinimum 5+ years’ experience supporting engineering development, prototype builds, or manufacturing operations.\nDue to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person. defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status \nDue to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen. \nWE VALUE:\nBachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, Operations, or related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred\nExperience in advanced manufacturing, aerospace, defense, semiconductor, photonics, quantum technology, or highly regulated industries.\nExperience with CNC machining, fabrication, additive manufacturing, or rapid prototyping technologies.\nKnowledge of metrology, calibration systems, and inspection methodologies.\nKnowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, visual management, and continuous improvement methodologies.\nExperience managing technical equipment, facilities, or laboratory operations.\nStrong problem-solving and organizational skills.\nEffective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.\nLean Six Sigma certification.\nExperience implementing Gemba management systems and daily management practices.\nFamiliarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality management
