The ideal candidate will have a background in instrument control, automation, test engineering, and/or system integration, and will bring their previous experience developing and improving cutting-edge software in a commercial or research and development environment to bear on our commercial quantum computers. Day-to-day work will involve complex problem solving; collaborating with a global team to operate quantum computers; developing operations standards and documentation; and optimizing system performance and reliability.\nKey Responsibilities:\nOperate and maintain an on-premises Helios quantum computer as part of a small team\n\nMaintain software configuration and quality for the on-premises quantum computer\n\nTroubleshoot software and hardware (via software and/or computer interfaces) subsystems as needed to return the quantum computer to service\n\nRemotely operate and troubleshoot cloud-based quantum computers as a part of a global team- tasks include software diagnostics, configuration, recovery, or coordination with onsite teams\n\nContribute to novel areas of software development in support of customer-focused operations as able\n\nEssential Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Development or a related technical field\n\nTwo or more years of post-graduate experience (M.S. or Ph.D. inclusive) in a software development, software engineering, or academic or industrial research and development role\n\nExperience with collaboration tools (e.g. version control, bug tracking systems) and general programming tools (e.g. a debugger, profiler, software testing tools)\n\nAbility to communicate technical and non-technical content clearly in spoken and written English\n\nAvailability to travel abroad for training or other business needs and flexibility to do so at short notice\n\nDue to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen\n\nWe value:\nExperience working on software with a team including backend and QA engineers, communicating ideas, and reviewing and writing code as demonstrated through previous work experience or public software projects\n\nProficiency in Python and web development\n\nExperience in instrumentation, automation, and/or test engineering\n\nInterest in quantum information science (QIS) and knowledge of fundamental physics or programming concepts related to QIS\n\nHands-on experience with electrical, mechanical, or optical systems including building, validating, optimizing, maintaining, and troubleshooting\n\nDocumentation, technical writing, and presentation skills as evidenced by internal and/or external technical documentation, technical presentations, conference participation, and peer-reviewed engineering and/or scientific publications\n\nInternational exposure and experience collaborating across locations, cultures, or time zones.\n\nWork
