This is a hands-on development role focused on Python, Go, and modern front-end technologies within an AI-assisted, DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure-as-Code environment.\nThe ideal candidate is a strong software engineer who is comfortable owning software across the full development lifecycle - from design and development through CI/CD, deployment, and production operations - and can effectively work across software development, cloud infrastructure, and platform teams. In this role, you will design and build AI agents, APIs, and modern front-end applications, including interfaces that generate and adapt themselves in real time using generative AI, instead of being hand-built screen by screen. This position also requires strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical, actionable solutions for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nResponsibilities:\nDesign, develop, test, and maintain full-stack application capabilities using Python and Go, with an emphasis on secure, scalable, maintainable, and production-ready software.\nDevelop backend services, APIs, integrations, automation, and supporting tools using Python, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, and other appropriate technologies.\nBuild new product capabilities and enhance existing functionality across our network automation and mission platform applications, including backend services and user-facing application features.\nBuild AI agent systems that use tools, call external services, and reason over structured and unstructured data.\nIntegrate agents with tools and data sources using modern agent-tool protocols, including the Model Context Protocol (MCP).\nDesign and build modern front-end applications, including generative UI, where components and layout are constructed dynamically based on user intent.\nDesign and implement integrations with cloud services, network automation tools, monitoring solutions, and third-party systems using REST APIs and structured data.\nDevelop capabilities that ingest, process, and correlate operational and telemetry data, and use agents to automate workflows across the platform.\nWork within a CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code environment maintained by the platform team, understanding how your code is provisioned, deployed, configured, and operated in production.\nContribute to CI/CD pipelines that support automated builds, automated testing, and reliable deployment across development, staging, and production environments.\nBuild and deploy containerized, cloud-native applications, working closely with the Cloud & Platform Engineer on scalability, reliability, observability, and performance.\nUse AI-assisted software development tools such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar technologies as part of day-to-day engineering workflows to accelerate coding, debugging, refactoring, testing, documentation, and code analysis.\nApply engineering judgment when working with AI-generated code and recommendations, validating outputs for correctness, security, maintainability, performance, and alignment with engineering standards.\nTroubleshoot complex application, integration, deployment, and production issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions.\nParticipate throughout the software development lifecycle, including architecture and design discussions, code reviews, testing, documentation, release management, deployment, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.\nApply secure software development practices throughout the application lifecycle, and collaborate with security and compliance staff to translate requirements into practical software capabilities.\nQualifications\nRequired:\nDemonstrated professional experience designing, developing, and supporting production software applications.\nStrong hands-on software development experience with Python, including professional experience developing applications using Django, FastAPI, or a comparable modern framework.\nProgramming experience with Go and familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript or other modern application development languages.\nExperience designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs and integrating applications with external systems and services.\nExperience with relational databases, data modeling, backend application architecture, and modern front-end web development technologies.\nExperience building AI agent or agentic-workflow systems: tool use, multi-step orchestration, and integration with large language models.\nExperience with modern front-end development, including at least exposure to generative or AI-driven UI.\nHands-on experience working in cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, with an understanding of how applications are deployed, configured, secured, monitored, and operated in production.\nExperience working within a CI/CD and DevOps-based software delivery environment, including automated builds, testing, deployments, version control, and release processes.\nFamiliarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar), sufficient to work effectively alongside the engineers who own it.\nExperience with Docker, containers, and cloud-native application deployment. Familiarity with Kubernetes or managed container platforms is highly desirable.\nDemonstrated experience using AI-assisted software development tools such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or comparable technologies as part of day-to-day professional software development.\nAbility to independently troubleshoot software, integration, deployment, and production issues and develop secure, reliable, and maintainable solutions.\nComfort operating in a high-ambiguity, early-stage product environment: able to ask clarifying questions, propose trade-offs, and iterate without fully specified requirements.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across software engineering, product, cloud, and platform teams.\nDesired:\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.\nDirect experience with the Model Context Protocol (MCP) or comparable agent-tool integration standards.\nExperience with agent orchestration frameworks (for example LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, or comparable).\nExperience developing software for network operations, telemetry, or mission/tactical systems.\nExperience with AWS and/or GCP cloud-native services, including serverless, container, database, messaging, monitoring, identity, and security services.\nHands-on experience with technologies such as Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, AWS CodePipeline, CloudFormation, or comparable DevOps and cloud automation technologies.\nExperience with modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (React or similar), including streaming UI patterns.\nFamiliarity with vector databases, retrieval-augmented generation, or other applied large-language-model patterns.\nExperience with observability and monitoring platforms such as CloudWatch, OpenSearch, Splunk, Datadog, New Relic, or similar technologies.\nKnowledge of the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST SP 800-53 Revision 5, FedRAMP, and FISMA security and compliance requirements.\nExperience translating operational or mission requirements into application features, automation, workflows, integrations, or reporting capabilities.\nPrior experience supporting a Defense Information Systems Agency, Army, Air Force, or other Department of War program.\nExperience developing and operating software supporting federal government, enterprise, or other highly regulated environments.\nClearance:\nUS Citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance\nDOD/DoW Secret or Top Secret clearance is preferred\nLocation:\nRemote, US. Hybrid-remote in Reston, VA (preferred)\nAbout Quantum Sky\nCompensation:\nCompensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position. The salary range for this position is typically between $150,000-$175,000. This does not guarantee a specific salary as compensation is based upon multiple factors such as education, experience, certifications, and other requirements, and may fall outside of the above-stated range.\nBenefits:\nHighlights of our benefits include Health/Dental/Vision, 401(k) match, Paid Time Off, STD/LTD/Life Insurance, Referral Bonuses, professional development reimbursement, and parental leave.\nThe world the mission operates in is going post-quantum, contested, and machine-speed.
