Your role will combine hands-on operational support, infrastructure management, troubleshooting, automation, and continuous improvement.\nA key part of the role is removing technical and operational friction for client teams. This includes improving developer onboarding, standardising environments, resolving build and deployment issues, automating repetitive activities, and reducing the need for manual intervention.\nYou will work across a broad technology landscape and collaborate closely with software engineers, testers, infrastructure teams, database teams, security specialists, and other DevOps functions. You will be expected to take ownership of issues, communicate clearly with clients and technical stakeholders, and balance immediate operational needs with sustainable long-term improvements.\nKey Responsabilities\nWork directly with clients to understand their technical and operational needs and deliver appropriate DevOps solutions.\n\nContribute to client projects, platform changes, service improvements, and Business-as-Usual operational activities.\n\nProvision, configure, maintain, upgrade, patch, and decommission virtual machines across multiple private cloud and virtualisation platforms.\n\nSupport development, test, pre-production, and production environments, ensuring they remain stable, consistent, and fit for purpose.\n\nStandardise developer environments and workflows to reduce configuration differences and “works on my machine” issues.\n\nProvide second-line technical support to development and delivery teams, diagnosing build, deployment, infrastructure, configuration, and environment-related issues.\n\nAutomate repetitive operational and infrastructure activities using technologies such as Ansible, Terraform, GitLab CI/CD, Bash, and Python.\n\nSupport CI/CD pipelines by ensuring environment readiness, managing configuration dependencies, and assisting with deployment troubleshooting and verification.\n\nMonitor the health, capacity, availability, and configuration of supported environments.\n\nIdentify configuration drift and inconsistencies between environments and implement corrective actions.\n\nDevelop and maintain reusable infrastructure code, golden images, base containers, templates, and automation components.\n\nTroubleshoot networking, DNS, certificates, identity and access management, secrets management, and service discovery issues.\n\nCollaborate with infrastructure, cloud, database, security, networking, software engineering, and other DevOps teams to deliver reliable solutions.\n\nSupport database teams with the provisioning and configuration of the infrastructure required by database services.\n\nParticipate in incident investigation, root-cause analysis, problem resolution, and the implementation of permanent corrective actions.\n\nIdentify opportunities to improve reliability, reduce operational effort, and increase the speed and consistency of software delivery.\n\nCreate and maintain accurate technical documentation, operational procedures, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides.\n\nCommunicate technical issues, risks, dependencies, and progress clearly to clients and internal stakeholders.\n\nRequirements\nWhat you’ll bring\nHands-on experience administering and troubleshooting Linux-based systems, including networking, system services, permissions, storage, and package management.\n\nExperience managing the lifecycle of virtual machines in private cloud or virtualisation environments such as OpenStack or VMware.\n\nExperience working with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.\n\nPractical experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and configuration-management tools such as Terraform and Ansible.\n\nExperience with Git-based workflows and CI/CD technologies such as GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, or Bamboo.\n\nGood scripting skills using Bash, Python, or a comparable language.\n\nStrong troubleshooting skills across applications, operating systems, infrastructure, networking, and deployment pipelines.\n\nUnderstanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, routing, connectivity, load balancing, and TLS certificates.\n\nFamiliarity with monitoring, logging, and observability technologies such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK or EFK.\n\nExposure to secrets management, authentication, and access-control technologies such as Vault and Keycloak.\n\nBasic understanding of database technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Elasticsearch, particularly their infrastructure and environment requirements.\n\nAbility to manage competing priorities across project delivery, operational support, incidents, and continuous improvement activities.\n\nStrong sense of ownership and the ability to take issues from initial investigation through to resolution.\n\nClear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work directly with clients and explain technical matters to different audiences.\n\nAbility to collaborate effectively with software engineers, testers, infrastructure teams, database teams, security specialists, and other technical functions.\n\nFlexibility to work across different clients, services, technologies, and environments while balancing standardisation with specific business requirements.\n\nDesirable Experience\nExperience with GitOps tools and practices, including technologies such as Argo CD and Helm.\n\nExperience supporting highly available or business-critical applications.\n\nFamiliarity with incident, problem, and change-management processes.\n\nExperience working in a client-facing technology or managed-service environment.\n\nKnowledge of security hardening, vulnerability remediation, patching, and compliance requirements.\n\nExperience contributing to technical projects from initial requirements through implementation and transition into operational
