Research will span algorithmic, machine learning, and hybrid approaches. Working with theory, software, and experimental teams, you will build reference implementations, perform numerical studies, and identify decoding strategies that improve fault-tolerant quantum computation and inform practical implementation.\nRequired Qualifications\nAdvanced degree in Physics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent experience\nStrong background in quantum error correction, quantum codes, and fault tolerance\nResearch experience in decoder design and analysis of algorithmic complexity\nExperience evaluating decoders using analytical methods, numerical simulation, or both\nStrong scientific programming skills for decoder research and clear communication\nPreferred Qualifications\nDecoding quantum memories or logical circuits under realistic circuit-level noise\nThreshold estimation, finite-size scaling, or theoretical analysis of decoding performance\nMachine learning, probabilistic inference, or hybrid methods for QEC decoding\nDecoding for qLDPC or other quantum codes under loss, correlated errors, or hardware-informed noise models\nCollaboration with experimental or software teams to connect decoder research with practical constraints\nThe approximate base salary range for this position is $130,400 - $211,900.\nWe consistently monitor external market data and update base salary ranges accordingly. We determine base compensation decisions on several factors, including as geographic placement, role-specific knowledge, skills, and/or experience.
