The ideal candidate must have a strong background in experimental atomic, molecular, and optical physics. The individual in this role will contribute to the advancement of neutral-atom based quantum computing technologies. They will be involved in the design, implementation, and characterization of neutral-atom quantum computing systems, and collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of physicists, engineers, and computer scientists to push the boundaries of quantum computing using neutral-atom platforms.\nResponsibilities: \nAssist in the construction of a next generation neutral atom quantum computer at Quera UK’s site on the Harwell Science and Innovation campus\nCollaborate with engineering teams to verify and validate modules and subsystems\nRun, calibrate, test and improve the operation of the QPU\nInvestigate sources of noise and decoherence and propose mitigation strategies\nAnalyze experimental data and draw meaningful conclusions to guide system improvements.\nStay current with the latest advancements in AMO physics and quantum computing.\nEngage in collaborations with academic and industry partners\nQualifications: \nA Ph.D. in experimental AMO physics or related field, with hands-on experience in building or operating a neutral atom or a trapped ion system, or another quantum hardware platform or practical experience with actual gate-based quantum computers is a major asset.\nSuccess in research, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and/or scientific talks and other contributions.\nProficient programming skills in languages such as Python, C++, or similar.\nExperience in mentoring or training scientists or engineers.\nFree to travel within Europe and the US where necessary\nBenefits:\nIn addition to your base compensation, we offer a generous rewards program.\nWe are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion throughout our recruitment and selection processes.\nAll applicants are considered on the basis of their skills, experience, qualifications and suitability for the role.
