If you’re driven to design, develop, and test technology that truly makes an impact, you’ll feel at home here. \nQuest Defense Systems & Solutions is seeking a Software and Hardware Senior Engineering Specialist to support aerospace programs through senior-level technical expertise in airborne software and electronic hardware engineering.\nThe successful candidate will support the development lifecycle of safety-critical aircraft systems, including requirements analysis, design review, implementation oversight, integration, verification, troubleshooting, and certification support. The role requires strong technical judgment, an understanding of the relationship between software and hardware, and the ability to resolve complex engineering challenges within a multidisciplinary aircraft development environment.\nThe specialist will collaborate with software, hardware, systems engineering, avionics, flight controls, safety, verification, and certification teams to ensure engineering deliverables meet applicable functional, performance, quality, and development assurance requirements.\nResponsibilities\nParticipate in preliminary and critical system design reviews\nReview and assess supplier’s airborne software and electronic hardware certification plans\nReview and assess supplier’s airborne software and electronic (FPGA, ASIC, PLD) designs\nPerform technical and process audits at supplier’s facilities\nPerform safety of flight reviews\nAssess software and hardware test results and analyses and determine final compliance status\nLead the resolution of safety, compliance or technical deficiencies with the suppliers and Bombardier stakeholders\nPrepare and/or review design compliance reports\nContribute to evolution of the SWEL (Software and Electronics) domain roadmap\nMentor less experienced professionals\nRequired Qualifications \nBachelor’s degree in Electronics, Software, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent and have a minimum of 15 years of experience in a technical engineering field, including a minimum of 10 years in aeronautics\nMinimum of 5 years of FPGA or ASIC development and/or embedded software development for aerospace applications\nYou have thorough working knowledge of airborne software and electronic hardware guidance and Means of Compliances\nRTCA DO-178B/C, DO-248B/C, DO-254, DO-330\nEASA CM-SWCEH-002 (associated with DO-178B) and CM-SWCEH-001\nFAA AC 20-115D and AC 20-152A\nFAA Order 8110.49A and 8110.105A\nExperience in requirements capture environments (DOORS, JAMA)\nWorking knowledge of multiple programming languages (C, C++, Ada95, Assembly, Python) and multiple hardware description languages\nWorking knowledge of embedded computer architectures\nWorking knowledge of operating systems and real-time executives\nPreferred Qualifications \nGeneral knowledge in electronics and software programming\nExperience with civil aircraft and airworthiness authoritiesThe QDSS Advantage \nAt QDSS, our advantage is purpose-driven work, collaborative teams, and complex challenges that push boundaries and build lasting impact.
