We go from sealed wholesale bottles to filled, verified prescription vials with zero human involvement.\nWe built Queue because no one should ever have to wait in line for the medicines they need. One in three US pharmacies has shut down. Pharmacists are overworked to a breaking point. And patients are paying the price. Queue fixes that. Pharmacists get to practice pharmacy again - counseling patients, catching interactions, doing the work only they can do. And patients get their prescriptions in 60 seconds or less, any time, anywhere.\nWe’re backed by over $18 million from Alleycorp, Riot Ventures, Ubiquity Ventures, House Capital, and others who believe the pharmacy system is broken and that robotics can fix it. Queue was founded by Nick Desai (6x founder, previously CEO of Heal) and Joshua Liu (previously Tesla, Waymo, and Zipline).\nAbout the Role\nAs a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll design, build, and test the mechanisms inside our robotic pharmacy. This is a hands-on role. You’ll take parts and subassemblies from a sketch and a hand calculation to hardware running on the bench, then break it, learn from it, and build the next one.\nWe aren’t looking for years on a resume. We’re looking for people who build things, and who can explain from first principles why their design works. If you can draw the free-body diagram, estimate the answer before you open the simulation, and then go make the part yourself, we want to meet you.\nYou’ll work side by side with senior engineers who own the system architecture. You’ll own real hardware early, and your scope will grow as fast as your judgment does.\nWhat makes this role extraordinary\nYour hardware will handle real medication for real patients. Few early-career roles let you design a mechanism, build it with your own hands, watch it fail, fix it, and see it go into a product headed for nationwide deployment.\nWhat You’ll Do\nBuild and Iterate:\nDesign, fabricate, and assemble prototype mechanisms, fixtures, and test rigs yourself\n\nUse the fastest method that answers the question: 3D printing, laser cutting, manual and CNC machining, or hand tools\n\nAssemble, debug, and rework hardware on the bench alongside our technicians\n\nRun short loops: build something, learn from it, and improve it in days, not months\n\nEngineering Judgment from First Principles:\nStart every design with a sketch, a free-body diagram, and a hand calculation before CAD or simulation\n\nSize springs, motors, bearings, shafts, and fasteners from loads, energy, and duty cycle\n\nChoose materials and finishes for stated reasons: strength, stiffness, wear, fatigue, and cost\n\nRun tolerance stack-ups on the interfaces that matter, and know which ones those are\n\nState your assumptions, decide what is good enough, and check your prediction against the hardware\n\nTest and Learn:\nWrite simple test plans, instrument your builds, and collect data you trust\n\nCompare results to your calculations and explain the gap\n\nFind the root cause when something breaks, not just the patch\n\nRecord what you learned so the next engineer can build on it\n\nGrow into Production Design:\nCreate parts in CAD and release drawings a shop can build from\n\nLearn design for manufacturing (DFM) by working with senior engineers and our suppliers on machined, molded, and sheet metal parts\n\nWork with electrical and software engineers to integrate motors, sensors, and harnesses\n\nHelp carry designs from prototype toward systems that run reliably 24/7 in a pharmacy\n\nRequired Qualifications and Experiences\nWe don’t care about your degrees. We care about what you can show us! Send us your resume and portfolio, with photos and video of things you built, including the ones that failed and what you changed.\nBuilder first: A portfolio of hardware you designed and physically made. Project teams, internships, research, and personal projects all count\n\n0-3 years of hands-on mechanical or mechatronic engineering experience, in industry or out of it\n\nFirst-principles fundamentals: Working command of statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, and machine design. You can go from a sketch to a free-body diagram to a number, and defend the number\n\nEngineering judgment: You can explain why you chose a material, a mechanism, or a tolerance, and what you traded away to get it\n\nHands-on fabrication: Comfortable in a shop with 3D printers, hand tools, and basic machining. You debug with a caliper and a multimeter, not just a screen\n\nCAD proficiency: Solid part and assembly modeling in a 3D CAD platform (OnShape, SolidWorks, Creo), and drawings clear enough to build from\n\nOwnership: You finish what you start, say what you don’t know, and learn fast from feedback\n\nNice to Have:\nMechanisms with moving parts: linkages, cams, gear trains, linear stages, grippers, dispensers\n\nMechatronics basics: motors, sensors, and a microcontroller you wired and programmed yourself\n\nTolerance analysis and GD&T on parts that had to fit and function\n\nExposure to manufacturing methods such as machining, injection molding, sheet metal, or casting\n\nPython or MATLAB for test data and quick calculations\n\nSimulation (FEA) used to check a hand calculation, not replace it\n\nHow We Hire\nRecruiter Screen (30 min)\n\nHiring Manager Interview (60 min): walk us through something you built\n\nEmbedded Technical Interview (60 min): work a design problem from first principles\n\nTechnical presentation to the team (60 min)\n\nLeadership Interview (30 min)\n\nWhat We Offer\nEarly-stage equity in automated pharmacy dispensing at scale\n\nDirect impact: your hardware dispenses medication to real patients\n\nSmall team, zero bureaucracy, high trust\n\nHard problems: precision mechanisms, high-reliability hardware, regulatory compliance, and real-time hardware integration\n\nCompensation & Benefits\nCompetitive salary\n\nMeaningful early-stage equity\n\nHealth, 401(k), unlimited PTO\n\nWhy Join Us Now?\nImpact & Growth\nDirect Patient Impact: Your hardware will improve healthcare outcomes for millions of patients\n\nMarket Leadership: Ground-floor opportunity to define an entirely new category of healthcare technology\n\nTechnical Innovation: Work on novel problems at the intersection of AI, robotics, and healthcare\n\nCareer Acceleration: Real ownership early, with scope that grows as the company scales\n\nTeam and Culture\nWorld-Class Team: Learn alongside exceptional engineers, AI researchers, and healthcare experts\n\nDirect Access: Work directly with the co-founders, with real autonomy and genuine influence over decisions\n\nInnovation Focus: Culture that prioritizes breakthrough thinking and rapid experimentation\n\nMission-Driven: Team united around the goal of transforming healthcare through technology\n\nOur Values\nServant Leadership: Make those around you better. We serve our teams the way Queue serves communities: 4,000 pharmacies close each year and deserts are spreading - we’re here to reverse that.\n\nDo the Hard Things: Healthcare, hardware, and company-building are all hard. We do them anyway. Convenience for us is life-changing for those we serve.\n\nOwn Your Work: Be accountable; take pride in what you ship. Queue lives and dies by what you do - own it fully.\n\nDefault is Now: There’s never a better time than today. Default to action: what can we prove, learn, or simplify right now?\n\nContact: If you have any questions, please contact us ","description_format":"text","description_chars":7422,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Equity","Unlimited PTO"],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United States","iso":"US","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Industrial Robotics","Laboratory & Pharmaceutical Robotics"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-08T16:39:46Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":88,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.876,"p_room":1,"age_days":5,"expected_fill_days":23,"reasons":["conf:4","velocity","win:early","comp:junior"],"computed_at":"2026-10-14T06:34:16Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/queue-mechanical-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/queue-mechanical-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-14T16:07:53Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":20443,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-15T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":3787073},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=3787073"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fqueue-mechanical-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fqueue-mechanical-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fqueue-mechanical-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/queue-mechanical-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fqueue-mechanical-engineer"}]}
