This flexible, hybrid position requires a minimum of one day in the office each week and offers work locations in Germany or the Netherlands.\nKey Responsibilities:\nLead the design and simulation of advanced photonic components using tools like Lumerical.\nOversee PIC layout development in IPKISS, GdsFactory, or similar, ensuring high-quality standards.\nDrive innovation in photonic component design and contribute significantly to the internal PDK development and maintenance.\nAutomate and enhance simulation workflows using Python or similar languages.\nMentor junior engineers and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams using Git for code management.\nLead the integration of photonic designs into broader system architectures.\nRequired Qualifications:\nMSc or PhD (preferred) in Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Physics or related field.\n5+ years of experience in photonics design, with a preference for industry experience\nDemonstrated proficiency in Lumerical and PIC layout tools (IPKISS, GdsFactory).\nAdvanced programming skills in Python and proficiency with Git.\nProven track record of project leadership and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.\nProficiency in English.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience leading PDK development with the Lumerical API.\nAdvanced knowledge of Silicon Nitride (SiN) platforms and quantum integrated photonics.\nFamiliarity with electro-optic modulators and expertise in quantum photonic applications.\nPersonal Attributes:\nStrong analytical skills and a proactive problem-solver.\nClear communicator and collaborative team player.\nMeticulous attention to detail with a commitment to excellence.\nSelf-driven and adept at managing multiple projects independently.\nWhat to expect from us:\nJoin a fast-paced, innovative start-up where your work directly impacts our growth and direction.
