In this position, you will be responsible for the hands-on engineering of onboard avionics, power distribution, sensor/seeker interfaces, Control Actuation System (CAS) drive electronics, flight telemetry systems, and inertial sensor integration.\nYou will own hardware across the full lifecycle-from concept design and schematic capture through circuit simulation, physical PCB layout, prototype bringing-up, environmental testing, and flight test support.\nKey Responsibilities\n1. Electrical Hardware & Avionics Design\nDesign, analyze, and test high-reliability, ruggedized printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) for onboard flight processing, signal conditioning, power conversion, and motor control.\nDevelop power supply electronics and power conditioning circuits tailored for high-strain missile environments (utilizing thermal batteries, linear/switching regulators, and protection networks).\nDesign motor drive electronics and high-current power stages for electromechanical actuators (CAS) and thrust vector control (TVC) systems.\n2. Subsystem Integration & Interconnects\nIntegrate Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) sensors (Inertial Measurement Units, GPS, altimeters) and seeker payloads with flight computer interfaces.\nDesign MIL-spec cable harnesses and interconnect systems engineered to withstand extreme acceleration, vibration, shock, and thermal loads.\nDevelop and maintain Electrical Interface Control Documents (ICDs), schematic diagrams, and system wiring topologies.\n3. Signal Integrity, EMI/EMC, & Qualification\nImplement Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), and shielding techniques per military standards.\nPerform circuit simulations, signal integrity (SI) analysis, and thermal-electrical derating evaluations for critical avionics components.\nSupport and execute environmental qualification testing of electronic assemblies under thermal vacuum (TVAC), vibration, pyroshock, and thermal shock conditions.\n4. Lab Testing, HWIL, & Field Support\nDesign and build Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE), test fixtures, and breakout boxes for laboratory integration and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) testing.\nPerform detailed troubleshooting, failure analysis, and root-cause investigations on hardware anomalies during bench testing, HWIL runs, or field operations.\nSupport remote test range campaigns for pre-flight checkouts and post-flight telemetry/data analysis.\nRequired Qualifications & Technical Stack\nEducation: B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with 5+ years of experience, or M.S. with 3+ years of experience in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability electronics design.\nIMU & Inertial Sensor Experience:\nDirect hands-on experience integrating tactical or strategic-grade IMUs (RLG, FOG, or high-performance MEMS IMUs such as Honeywell, Northrop Grumman, or Analog Devices units).\nIn-depth understanding of IMU electrical interfaces, clocking/synchronization protocols, dynamic range constraints, and noise-sensitivity characteristics.\n Circuit Design & Tools:Proven track record in schematic capture and PCB layout using industry-standard EDA tools (Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or Mentor Graphics/Siemens EDA).\nHands-on experience with mixed-signal, analog, high-speed digital, and power conversion (DC-DC) design.\n\n Bus Protocols & Interfaces:Experience implementing standard defense and industrial communication buses (MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, Ethernet/UDP, CAN bus, RS-422/485, SPI, I2C).\n\n Military Standards & Test:Working knowledge of key military standards (MIL-STD-461 for EMI/EMC, MIL-STD-810 for environmental testing, and MIL-STD-704 for aircraft/missile power).\n\nSecurity Clearance: Must hold an active US DoD Secret security clearance with eligibility for Top Secret / SCI.\nDesired Qualifications\nExperience designing drive electronics for brushless DC (BLDC) motors or actuators.\nBackground in ordnance safety design or electronic fuzing (ESAD/ESAF) circuits per MIL-STD-1901A.\nFamiliarity with RF interfaces, antennas, or telemetry transmitters.\nBasic FPGA development (VHDL/Verilog) or micro-controller firmware integration experience.\nRadiance Technologies is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
