Founded in 2020, Radiant is on track to test its first reactor at the Idaho National Laboratory this summer, with initial customer deliveries beginning in 2028.\nRadiant is seeking a highly motivated Director, Nuclear Engineering to organize nuclear design and analysis strategy spanning the design, operation, and iteration of our microreactor fleet.\nResponsibilities & Duties:\nLead and grow a team of nuclear engineers spanning core physics, shielding performance, dose and consequence analysis, and nuclear instrumentation domains\n\nManage team execution to efficiently deliver against the strategy, remove roadblocks, and adapt to shifting priorities\n\nIdentify, manage, and effectively communicate technical, schedule, and regulatory risks\n\nDevelop and standardize analysis roadmaps to enable fast iteration across multiple reactor programs\n\nFoster an attitude of ownership and mentorship within the team\n\nDefine the approach to nuclear engineering design margins and methodical peer reviews\n\nInteract with universities, national labs, and other outside entities as necessary to accomplish key objectives\n\nRequired Qualifications & Skills:\nHold a degree in nuclear engineering, physics, or engineering physics from an accredited institution\n\nMinimum 10 years of experience managing a team in reactor design and analysis\n\nFluency in engineering first principles across nuclear, thermal, electrical, and mechanical domains\n\nExcellence in communicating nuclear engineering concepts to a multidisciplinary audience\n\nFamiliarity with DOE authorization and/or NRC requirements and processes, and demonstrated experience with the development of nuclear facility safety bases\n\nMust be willing to relocate to Radiant’s El Segundo office\n\nExperience with Monte Carlo neutron transport codes, including OpenMC, Serpent, or MCNP\n\nDesired Qualifications & Skills:\nHands-on experience designing products, hardware, or tests\n\nAdditional Requirements:\nMust be willing to work extended hours and weekends as necessary to accomplish our mission\n\nMust work 100% onsite at El Segundo HQ\n\nBenefits and Perks\nStock: Substantial incentive stock plan for all full-time employees.\n\nMedical: 100% up to base silver level plan for employee + 50% dependents, offers up to Platinum plans.\n\nOne Medical: Sponsored memberships for employees and their dependents.\n\nVision: 100% top tier plan coverage + 50% for dependents.\n\nDental: 100% top tier plan coverage, orthodontia extra, 50% for dependents.\n\nVoluntary life, accident, hospital, critical illness, commuter and FSA/HSA are offered as employee contributed benefits.\n\n8-weeks of paid parental leave for all parents.
