Founded in 2020, Radiant is on track to test its first reactor at the Idaho National Laboratory this summer, with initial customer deliveries beginning in 2028.\nAbout the Role\nRadiant is seeking a talented Senior Electrical Engineer to own designs from requirements capture through operation. The candidate will be directly responsible for components of the nuclear microreactor control and measurement systems. The ideal candidate should be comfortable jumping from designing circuit boards to integration work interfacing with fault-tolerant, off-the-shelf hardware. This role requires collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams designing the nuclear reactor core, fluid heat transfer systems, and structures.\nResponsibilities & Duties:\nCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support the architecture, design, implementation, and testing of the microreactor electrical control systems.\n\nDesign and develop industrial electrical control hardware including schematics, wiring diagrams, harnessing, and integration assemblies.\n\nLead design of fault-tolerant and safety-critical electrical systems, emphasizing reliability, maintainability, and regulatory compliance.\n\nDevelop and review electrical interface designs between control systems, power equipment, and instrumentation.\n\nEnsure designs comply with applicable electrical codes and safety standards including NFPA and NEC requirements.\n\nPerform SCCR and Arc Flash calculations.\n\nRequired Qualifications & Skills:\nBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.\n\n5+ years of experience designing electrical hardware.\n\nExperience designing fault-tolerant and safety critical hardware.\n\nExperience with Ethernet, EtherCAT, Modbus, CANbus, RS-422, or other communications protocols.\n\nExperience selecting, integrating, and troubleshooting sensors including pressure transducers, RTDs, thermocouples, shaft speed and position sensors, IEPE vibration sensors, and MEMS-based sensors.\n\nExperience using electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, Zuken, or similar schematic and wiring design tools.\n\nExperience designing, analyzing, and working safely with industrial power systems including 120 VAC, 208 VAC, and 480 VAC equipment, including applicable electrical safety practices.\n\nStrong electrical engineering fundamentals.\n\nExperience specifying and integrating Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), soft starters, and motor control centers (MCCs).\n\nDesired Qualifications & Skills:\nExperience in electrical architecture make vs. buy trades.\n\nExperience with Siemens NX.\n\nExperience with PLCs, Twincat, structured text programming.\n\nFamiliarity with EMI/EMC mitigation techniques and testing.\n\nExperience with Python, C/C++, or scripting languages for test automation, data acquisition, or diagnostics.\n\nExperience supporting nuclear instrumentation systems.\n\nExperience with FMEAs and hazard analysis.\n\nExperience with industrial network architecture and deterministic control networks.\n\nAdditional Requirements:\nMust be willing to work extended hours and weekends as necessary to accomplish our mission.\n\nMust work 100% onsite at El Segundo HQ.\n\nBenefits and Perks\nStock: Substantial incentive stock plan for all full-time employees.\n\nMedical: 100% up to base silver level plan for employee + 50% dependents, offers up to Platinum plans.\n\nOne Medical: Sponsored memberships for employees and their dependents.\n\nVision: 100% top tier plan coverage + 50% for dependents.\n\nDental: 100% top tier plan coverage, orthodontia extra, 50% for dependents.\n\nVoluntary life, accident, hospital, critical illness, commuter and FSA/HSA are offered as employee contributed benefits.\n\n8-weeks of paid parental leave for all parents.
