Join our Workplace Management team and work with us to close the gap to a sustainable future.\nYour new role\nThis role provides senior HSE leadership across Ramboll’s EPC/EPCM project portfolio in Ramboll Americas, supporting the safe delivery of complex engineering, procurement, construction management, commissioning, and turnover activities. The role is responsible for establishing consistent HSE governance, aligning contractors and project teams, supporting high-risk work planning, and enabling effective execution across multiple concurrent projects. The successful candidate will bring significant hands-on experience from large-scale EPC/EPCM construction environments and will be able to operate confidently at both strategic and field execution levels.\nThe ideal candidate will be a credible HSE leader with significant field experience on large-scale construction or EPC/EPCM projects, strong contractor management capability, and the confidence to influence senior project, client, and contractor stakeholders. They will be comfortable working across multiple projects, balancing strategic governance with practical field-based support, and helping project teams create consistent, risk-based HSE execution.\nYour key responsibilities will be:\nStrategic HSE Leadership\nLead the development of a portfolio-wide HSE approach that enables consistent standards, scalable processes, and project-specific execution across all EPC/EPCM projects.\nServe as primary HSE advisor to Project Directors and EPC/EPCM leadership teams.\nDrive adoption of Ramboll’s HSE program and translate its expectations into practical project-level behaviours, controls, and leadership routines.\nProvide strategic HSE guidance during proposals and contract negotiations to align client expectations and establish the conditions needed for effective safety management.\nProvide HSE leadership within an EPC/EPCM delivery model, ensuring clear boundaries, responsibilities, and interfaces between Ramboll, clients, construction contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.\nSafety Program Organization & Implementation\nDefine HSE organization structures that are scalable with the ability to support multi-project EPC/EPCM delivery on a nationwide basis.\nClarify roles, responsibilities, interfaces, and governance models required for integrated EPC/EPCM/ safety programs.\nEstablish standardized HSE execution plans across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and turnover.\nEstablish construction readiness expectations, including contractor mobilisation, competency assurance, risk review, and field execution controls.\nContractor & Multi-Party Coordination\nAlign HSE expectations, execution standards, and performance requirements across contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and third-party stakeholders.\nLead contractor onboarding, alignment sessions, audits, and recurring performance reviews.\nEnsure HSE requirements are embedded into contracting strategies, procurement packages, bid documents, mobilisation plans, and contractor management processes.\nSupport project teams in translating Ramboll and client HSE requirements into practical field execution requirements for contractors and subcontractors.\nRisk Management, Governance and Assurance\nProvide governance and assurance over EPC/EPCM risk management processes, including hazard identification, construction risk assessments, high-risk work reviews, and site controls.\nSupport project HSE resources and project leadership in establishing consistent risk management expectations, while ensuring accountability remains clear within the project delivery structure.\nReview and challenge the effectiveness of controls for high-risk activities, including lifting, electrical work, confined space entry, work at height, ground disturbance, energisation, commissioning, and simultaneous operations.\nProvide oversight, escalation support, and subject matter input for high-potential or higher-severity incidents, ensuring investigations are completed and lessons learned are embedded across relevant projects.\nConduct site visits, leadership engagements, and assurance reviews to verify that project HSE controls are effective, understood, and consistently applied by the relevant project teams and contractors.\nSafety Culture & Engagement\nDemonstrate visible HSE leadership that builds trust, accountability, and proactive safety behaviours across project teams and contractors.\nCoach project and contractor leadership teams to strengthen leading indicators, reinforce expectations, and promote consistent safety leadership.\nPromote open communication, psychological safety, learning, and continuous improvement across the EPC/EPCM project portfolio.\nRegulatory & Compliance Oversight\nProvide oversight of compliance with applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations, client requirements, and Ramboll HSE standards across EPC/EPCM projects.\nSupport project teams in translating regulatory and contractual HSE requirements into practical controls and assurance activities.\nRepresent Ramboll in client audits, regulatory inspections, and EPC/EPCM governance meetings, ensuring actions are effectively tracked, communicated, and closed.\nPerformance Management & Reporting\nEstablish consistent HSE performance reporting across EPC/EPCM projects, using leading and lagging indicators to identify trends, drive accountability, and improve performance.\nTranslate performance data into clear insights, actions, and recommendations for project leadership, clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders.\n About you\nBachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field.\n10+ years of progressive on-site HSE leadership experience with substantial large-scale EPC/EPCM project exposure.\nStrong background supporting multi-contractor, high-risk industrial construction environments.\nDemonstrated ability to influence without direct authority.\nProven experience supporting construction management delivery models where HSE performance is delivered through contractor execution and strong client/contractor interface management.\nWorking knowledge of construction-phase HSE controls, contractor management, incident investigation, assurance, and regulatory compliance.\nAbility to travel regularly to project locations and engage effectively with field teams, project leadership, clients, and contractors.\nStrong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.\nPreferred:\nProfessional certifications (CSP, CMIOSH, NEBOSH, CRSP, or equivalent).\nExperience with energy transition, power, renewables, industrial de-carbonisation, chemicals, The anticipated base salary range for this position is $136,497 - $197,515 per year. This range reflects the compensation we reasonably expect to offer at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and internal equity. Because we operate across multiple U.S. markets, pay may differ depending on the cost of labor in specific locations. In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for bonus, overtime or other forms of compensation and we offer a comprehensive benefits package that supports well-being, professional development, and work-life balance.
