We hire mission and technical specialists, prioritizing people over processes and quality over quantity, so that every engagement advances the mission and shapes the future of national security.\nJob Summary\nThe Cloud Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable cloud and on-premises infrastructure that supports mission-critical applications and services. This includes administering and hardening Linux systems, architecting networking, storage, and compute resources, and building infrastructure as code to ensure environments are repeatable and version-controlled. A core focus of the role is installing, configuring, and maintaining Kubernetes clusters and the foundational CNCF tooling that runs on top of them, including monitoring, ingress, service mesh, and certificate management.\nBeyond day-to-day infrastructure operations, this role partners closely with development and platform teams to translate application requirements into reliable, secure infrastructure solutions. Responsibilities include implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, enforcing security best practices such as identity and access management and secrets management, and participating in on-call rotations to maintain system reliability and uptime. The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer also documents infrastructure architecture and operational procedures, evaluates new tools and practices to improve efficiency and maturity, and contributes to the team's overall technical direction.\nEmployment for this position is contingent upon contract award to Rampant Technologies. Final selection, start date, and offer of employment are subject to contract terms and client approval.\nRequired Skills\nStrong hands-on experience administering Linux systems in production environments, including shell scripting for automation\nProven experience installing, configuring, and operating Kubernetes clusters in production, including troubleshooting and upgrades\nWorking knowledge of core CNCF projects such as Prometheus, Helm, containerd\nPractical experience with infrastructure as code tooling, particularly Terraform or equivalent, for provisioning cloud and/or on-prem resources\nExperience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including core compute, networking, and storage services\nSolid understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, load balancing, VPNs, firewalls, and TCP/IP\nExperience with containerization technologies (Docker/containerd) and container image management\nFamiliarity with version control systems (Git) and collaborative development workflows\nUnderstanding of security best practices including secrets management, vulnerability scanning/remediation, and security hardening of Linux systems\nStrong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure issues under pressure\nDesired Skills\nExperience operating in hybrid environments that span both on-premises data centers and public cloud\nScripting proficiency in Bash, Python, or Go for building internal tooling and automation\nExperience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, and/or Puppet\nFamiliarity with storage solutions for Kubernetes (Rook Ceph, MinIO, or cloud-native persistent storage options)\nExperience with GPU-enabled infrastructure or workloads, particularly in support of AI/ML use cases\nRelevant certifications such as CKA, CKAD, AWS/Azure/GCP certifications, or RHCE\nPrior experience mentoring junior engineers or contributing to a team's technical direction\nExperience working in an agile and cross-functional team environments\nEducation and Experience\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a technical discipline is desired, with three (4) years of relevant experience\nFive (5) years of relevant experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree\nCertifications and Credentials\nActive TS/SCI w/ Poly required\nIA certification required; i.e. Security+ CE or greater\n*All duties and responsibilities are not captured in this job description.
