Ramsay is seeking an experienced Manager, Payroll Projects to establish and lead our payroll projects, driving a strategic portfolio of payroll transformation, governance, compliance and technology initiatives.

This is a pivotal role for an experienced payroll project leader who can bring structure, discipline and transparency to a complex change environment.

About the role

Reporting to the Director of Payroll, you will lead the planning, prioritisation and delivery of Ramsay’s payroll project portfolio. You will establish a consistent project methodology and operating framework that enables payroll change to be delivered effectively, efficiently and with appropriate governance and assurance.

Your key initiatives will be to:

  • Establish and lead Ramsay's Payroll Project Office, providing the governance, reporting, planning, and assurance framework for all payroll transformation initiatives.
  • Lead and develop a team of Project Managers and Business Analysts while directing matrixed payroll configuration, testing resources, and managing external delivery partners.

Your portfolio will span a diverse range of initiatives, including:

  • Enterprise Agreement configuration and implementation
  • Payroll and workforce management system implementations and upgrades
  • Payroll compliance and remediation programs
  • Legislative and regulatory change
  • Payroll governance and process improvement
  • Technology and business transformation initiatives

You will establish a clear portfolio view, ensuring projects are appropriately prioritised, sequenced and resourced while balancing project demand with the operational capacity of Payroll.

A key focus will be building and embedding a Ramsay payroll project methodology, including consistent project lifecycles, governance and approval gates, estimating, change control, risk management, dependency tracking, benefits realisation and executive reporting.

About you

You are an accomplished payroll transformation or project professional who thrives in complex environments and can bring both strategic thinking and delivery discipline.

You will ideally bring:

  • Significant experience leading complex payroll, HR technology or workforce management projects and portfolios
  • Strong understanding of payroll operations, governance, compliance and the risks associated with payroll change
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and prepare executive-level reporting, governance papers, and business cases.
  • Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, Enterprise Agreements, Awards, and compliance obligations.
  • Experience in healthcare, aged care, retail, government, or other Enterprise Agreement-intensive environments will be highly regarded.
  • Strong portfolio planning, prioritisation, resource management and reporting capability
  • Experience managing Enterprise Agreement configuration, payroll systems, legislative change or remediation programs
  • Demonstrated experience leading project managers and business analysts, as well as matrixed technical and testing resources
  • Experience with UKG / Kronos, Chris21 / iChris, Workday or comparable payroll and workforce management platforms.
