Working closely with cross-functional business and technical teams, you will facilitate alignment workshops, enforce data modeling and normalization standards, create comprehensive architectural artifacts, and support enterprise data governance and modernization initiatives.\n\nLocation: Toronto, ON (Fully Onsite – 5 days/week required)\n\nDuration: 12-month contract\n\nAdvantages\nFull-Lifecycle Modeling Scope: Hands-on leadership developing conceptual, semantic, logical, canonical, and physical data models.\n\nEnterprise Interoperability Impact: Define foundational common data models (CDM) and business glossaries enabling cross-domain data exchange.\n\nModern Tooling & Architecture: Leverage industry-standard CASE modeling tools, metadata frameworks, and modern data platform concepts.\n\nCollaborative Onsite Environment: Partner directly alongside enterprise architects, technical specialists, and business leads in a dedicated workspace.\n\nResponsibilities\nDevelop and maintain end-to-end data architectures across complex and distributed environments, determining data flow, distribution, database locations, and data access methods.\n\nDesign, build, and maintain conceptual, semantic, logical, and physical data models using CASE and data modeling tools such as ERwin, PowerDesigner, or Visio.\n\nDevelop enterprise, canonical, common, and domain data models to support interoperability, seamless information exchange, and data sharing across multiple business domains.\n\nEstablish and reconcile standard business vocabularies, controlled vocabularies, business glossaries, canonical business definitions, and semantic relationship models.\n\nDefine and document business entities, attributes, relationships, hierarchies, and underlying business rules.\n\nFacilitate business and technical workshops to reconcile terminology, align definitions, and achieve consensus across organizational boundaries.\n\nDesign and implement master data structures, reference data models, naming conventions, and metadata standards.\n\nReview conceptual, logical, and physical data models for quality, normalization, and adherence to established enterprise standards.\n\nAuthor and deliver comprehensive architecture artifacts, data lineage documentation, and checkpoint deliverables for architecture review boards.\n\nProvide data prototyping, proof-of-concept design, and strategic technical recommendations supporting data integration, migration, and modernization projects.\n\nQualifications\nHands-on Data Modeling Expertise: Demonstrated experience developing conceptual, logical, physical, and semantic data models within large or medium-scale systems environments (Strictly Required).\n\nEnterprise Canonical & Common Data Models: Extensive experience developing enterprise, common, canonical, and domain data models that support interoperability, information exchange, and data sharing across multiple business domains (Strictly Required).\n\nData Architecture Principles & Standards: Deep knowledge of data architecture methodologies, data modeling/normalization standards, repository functions, and best practices (Strictly Required).\n\nSemantic Models & Business Glossaries: Proven experience developing business glossaries, controlled vocabularies, reference data models, canonical business definitions, and semantic relationship models (Strictly Required).\n\nStakeholder Facilitation & Reconciliation: Demonstrated experience facilitating business and technical workshops to define and reconcile business terminology, entities, relationships, and canonical definitions (Strictly Required).\n\nData Modeling Tooling: Hands-on proficiency using data modeling tools such as ERwin, PowerDesigner, Visio, or equivalent CASE tools (Strictly Required).\n\nNice-to-Have Assets:\nPrior data modeling or data architecture experience within a public sector or enterprise regulatory environment.\n\nExperience with semantic modeling, ontology development, knowledge graphs, or semantic technologies (e.g., RDF, OWL, graph databases).\n\nFamiliarity with modern data platforms such as Databricks, Neo4j, or Denodo.\n\nKnowledge of Information Management principles, metadata governance solutions, and digital accessibility standards (AODA).\n\nSummary\nIf you're interested in the \"Senior Data Architect/Modeller\" role based in Toronto, we encourage you to apply online at www.randstad.ca.\n\nOnly qualified candidates will be contacted for the next steps.
