Backend Engineer

We are looking for a Software Development Engineer - Backend to build and scale reliable backend systems that power our healthcare platform. You will work on high-impact product features, design robust APIs and distributed services, and contribute to building systems that are scalable, highly available, secure, and performant. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys solving complex backend problems and working in a fast-paced, product-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable backend services for our healthcare applications and platforms.
• Build and maintain high-performance APIs that integrate seamlessly with internal and external systems.
• Design and implement distributed systems and microservices with a focus on scalability, availability, fault tolerance, and reliability.
• Work with SQL and NoSQL databases to design efficient data models and optimize application performance.
• Build and maintain event-driven systems using message brokers such as Kafka.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested, and production-ready code.
• Identify and resolve performance, scalability, and reliability challenges.
• Participate actively in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical design decisions.
• Collaborate closely with product, engineering, AI/ML, and other cross-functional teams.
• Evaluate and adopt appropriate technologies and engineering practices to improve system performance and maintainability.
• Contribute to building secure and reliable systems for US healthcare workflows and data.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of professional backend software development experience.
• Strong programming experience in one or more of Python, Go, or Node.js .
• Strong understanding of REST APIs and API design principles.
• Hands-on experience with microservices and distributed systems.
• Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with message brokers/event-driven systems, preferably Kafka.
• Experience working with at least one major cloud platform such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized applications.
• Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, clean code, testing, and debugging.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Good communication and collaboration skills.

Good to Have:

• Experience building systems for the US healthcare industry.
• Familiarity with healthcare standards such as HL7 FHIR and HIPAA.
• Experience integrating with EHR/EMR systems.
• Familiarity with healthcare APIs and interoperability platforms.
• Understanding of healthcare workflows, clinical data, or revenue cycle management.
• Experience working with high-volume, low-latency backend systems.
• Experience with observability, monitoring, logging, and production troubleshooting.
