This position requires critical problem-solving skills, both technically and in handling customer situations. The FSE 2 is an experienced professional with well-developed communication skills who has an understanding of industry practices and company policies. As the customer-facing technical resource, the FSE 2 will be required to perform technical work and make decisions at the customer site, which will require prioritization, evaluation, and clear communication with support and guidance from a supervisor and senior-level FSEs.\nPlease Note: This is a remote position; however, candidates must reside in Germany, preferably Munich area, due to the location of our customer base and the travel requirements of the role. Frequent travel throughout Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Switzerland.\nResponsibilities\nPerform successful installations at new and existing customer sites \nComplete regularly scheduled Preventative Maintenance activities on time \nProvide dependable and reliable service for emergency customer repairs per service levels defined by the Warranty or Service Contract \nComplete all paperwork within departmental goals \nWill complete service reports, expense reports, and SFDC requirements\nComplete all necessary training on time to meet Quality requirements \nDevelop working knowledge of industry practices and company policies \nSupport the new instrument Sales Process by performing site inspections \nSkills\nDemonstrated ability to read, comprehend, and interpret scientifically written documentation, including organizational and instrument procedures, and those from customer and/or regulatory agencies\nStrength in defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions\nOngoing development of professional output including written and verbal communications\nCritical thinking in technical decision making as related to prioritizing schedule, making travel choices, and recognizing when to escalate issues to management\nComputer/Microsoft Office proficiency, especially in Outlook, Excel\nProfessional email etiquette\nPresents recommendations and receives support and guidance from a supervisor and senior-level FSE \nKnowledge\nExperience working with mechanical systems consisting of pneumatic and servo-controlled mechanisms\nExperience working directly on software-controlled instruments\nDemonstrated experience working in ISO or GMP controlled environments in the life science field\nAcquired knowledge of computer networking\nPrevious experience having worked as a field engineer and understanding of appropriate and professional customer handling are required\nUnderstanding of the FSE role and openness to mentoring by senior-level FSEs\nKnowledge of procedures to effectively contribute to updates and procedure improvements\nEducation\nMinimum of technical degree or equivalent military experience, bachelor’s degree preferred\n2+ years of relevant work experience\nEnvironmental Factors\nMay be required to work on client sites for extended hours\nWeekend on-call periodically required\nMust be able to lift 75 pounds\nRequires extended travel on short
