Raptee is incubated at CIIC & ARAI.\nRole Overview:\nWe are looking for a highly analytical and detail-oriented Electronics Costing Engineer to drive cost reduction and cost optimization initiatives across Electrical & Electronics (E&E) components used in our EV products. The candidate will be responsible for developing should-cost models, benchmarking supplier quotations, identifying cost reduction opportunities, evaluating alternate components and suppliers, and working closely with engineering, supply chain, EMS partners, and suppliers to achieve competitive component costs.\nThe ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of electronic components, PCBAs, semiconductor pricing, manufacturing processes, BOM structures, and electronics cost drivers, with the ability to translate technical specifications and manufacturing requirements into detailed cost estimates.\nWhat You’ll Do:\nElectronics Costing & Should-Cost Analysis\nDevelop detailed should-cost models for electronic components, PCBAs, assemblies, and sub-assemblies based on BOM, specifications, manufacturing processes, and volumes.\nAnalyze supplier quotations and identify cost drivers across material, PCB, assembly, semiconductor, testing, tooling, overhead, logistics, and margin.\nBenchmark component and PCBA costs against market prices, alternate suppliers, historical costs, and comparable products.\nValidate supplier cost breakups and challenge cost assumptions to ensure commercially competitive pricing.\nBuild and maintain cost databases for electronic components, including ICs, semiconductors, passives, connectors, PCBs, sensors, and other E&E parts.\nPerform cost analysis for different volume scenarios, MOQ, annual demand, and production ramp-up.\nCost Reduction & VA/VE\nIdentify and drive cost reduction opportunities across E&E components through design optimization, component selection, localization, supplier development, and process improvements.\nWork with engineering teams to identify cost-effective alternatives and P2P (pin-to-pin) replacement opportunities without compromising performance, quality, reliability, or functionality.\nIdentify opportunities for component commonization, BOM optimization, specification optimization, and part consolidation.\nEvaluate alternate manufacturers and suppliers for cost-competitive sourcing.\nDrive Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VA/VE) initiatives for electronic components and PCBAs.\nAnalyze opportunities for localization of imported components and quantify the potential cost benefits.\nSupport cost-down targets for existing products as well as new product development programs.\nSupplier & EMS Cost Validation\nWork closely with Supply Chain, EMS partners, and suppliers to validate component and PCBA pricing.\nAnalyze and negotiate supplier cost breakups based on BOM, conversion cost, yield, cycle time, test cost, tooling, overhead, and margin.\nCompare costing from multiple EMS partners and identify cost competitiveness gaps.\nConduct supplier cost audits and validate quoted prices against market benchmarks where required.\nChallenge price increases and identify opportunities to mitigate cost escalations.\nSupport commercial negotiations with data-driven cost analysis and should-cost benchmarks.\nComponent & Market Benchmarking\nTrack market prices and cost trends for semiconductors, ICs, MOSFETs, IGBTs, MCUs, memory, connectors, passives, sensors, and other electronic components.\nStudy alternate manufacturers and technologies to identify cost-effective replacement opportunities.\nConduct teardown and benchmarking analysis of competing products where required.\nMonitor semiconductor lifecycle, availability, allocation, and market trends that may impact component pricing.\nDevelop and maintain a database of component prices, supplier quotes, historical pricing, and alternate sources.\nCross-Functional Collaboration\nWork closely with Engineering, R&D, Supply Chain, Quality, Manufacturing, and Program teams to identify and implement cost reduction opportunities.\nReview BOMs and engineering changes from a cost perspective and highlight cost impact before implementation.\nParticipate in design reviews and provide inputs on component selection, manufacturability, localization, and cost optimization.\nEvaluate the cost impact of ECNs, design changes, alternate components, and specification changes.\nSupport new product development teams with target costing and cost optimization from the early design stage.\nCost Tracking & Reporting\nEstablish and track component-level and system-level cost reduction targets.\nMaintain cost trackers for BOM cost, supplier pricing, should-cost, savings pipeline, and realized savings.\nPrepare cost comparison reports, supplier benchmarking reports, and management dashboards using MS Excel/Google Sheets.\nTrack savings from VA/VE, localization, alternate sourcing, design changes, and supplier negotiations.\nPrepare periodic reports highlighting identified savings, implemented savings, pending opportunities, and risks.\nMaintain accurate documentation of costing assumptions, quotations, benchmarks, and cost reduction activities.\nWho Can Apply?\nBachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.\n2+ years of experience in electronics costing, procurement, sourcing, component engineering, cost reduction, or electronics manufacturing within the automotive, EV, EMS, or electronics industry.\nStrong understanding of electronic components, PCBAs, BOM structures, and electronics manufacturing processes.\nGood understanding of semiconductor, PCB, PCBA, connector, passive, sensor, and electromechanical component cost drivers.\nExperience in should-costing, supplier quotation analysis, cost benchmarking, and commercial negotiations.\nGood understanding of manufacturing processes such as SMT, THT, PCB fabrication, injection molding, die casting, machining, and assembly is preferred.\nStrong analytical skills with proficiency in MS Excel/Google Sheets.\nGood communication and cross-functional coordination skills.\nGood To Haves:\nExperience in EV, automotive electronics, EMS, or Tier-1/Tier-2 automotive suppliers.\nExperience in VA/VE, target costing, teardown benchmarking, and cost engineering.\nHands-on experience in identifying P2P/component alternatives and cost-competitive manufacturers.\nKnowledge of semiconductor and electronic component pricing and market dynamics.\nExperience with BOM costing and cost roll-up of PCBAs and electronic assemblies.\nFamiliarity with
