Own and build the core backend platform for a data-intensive system, covering high-volume ingestion, large-scale querying and performance tuning. The role carries full ownership of infrastructure decisions and the technical roadmap, working directly with engineering leadership on a fast-moving team.\nWhat you'll do\n- Design and build the core backend platform for high-volume data processing.\n- Own infrastructure and data platform work, setting priorities and the technical roadmap.\n- Partner with product engineers and technical leadership to ship features that scale.\n- Build services that handle very large data throughput and real-time ingestion.\n- Lead the design of large-scale data models and query layers for fast analysis.\n- Profile and tune analytical and transactional databases using benchmarks, query plans and monitoring.\n- Use AI coding tools to speed up benchmarking, monitoring, incident debugging and development.\nRequirements\nWhat we're looking for\n- Roughly four to ten years of building server-side or low-level software systems.\n- Demonstrated results in raising the speed, uptime and capacity of heavy data workloads.\n- Strong computer science fundamentals across system architecture, databases and scaling.\n- Strong backend engineering skills in Python or another performant language.\n- Able to work on-site five days a week from the New York office in a fast-moving environment.\nBonus points\n- Hands-on experience running large-scale analytical databases, relational databases or
