Design and build mechanical hardware for automated systems, taking parts from first concept through prototyping, testing and production. The work combines hands-on bench testing with design and includes integrating finished hardware into working facilities.\nWhat you'll do\n- Design gripping tools, then complete machine systems and their integration with customer equipment.\n- Split working time roughly evenly between design and hands-on prototyping and testing.\n- Build your own test rigs and carry out the testing yourself.\n- Move parts from small prototype runs to larger production with outside suppliers.\n- Install and deploy hardware in live production environments.\nRequirements\nWhat we're looking for\n- Proficiency in one or more mechanical CAD tools, with a solid grasp of tolerancing, material selection and manufacturing methods.\n- Real-world work with mechanical machines such as robotic arms, drones or self-driving vehicles.\n- A practical understanding of mechanical fundamentals such as loads, stiffness, friction and material behavior, applied to design tradeoffs.\n- A history of seeing mechanical products move from early sketches all the way to volume build or field rollout.\n- Startup experience or substantial hands-on side projects building hardware.\n- Experience building and modifying prototypes.\n- One or more years of relevant experience.\nBonus points\n- Familiarity with GD&T fundamentals.\n- Defense-technology experience.\nBenefits\nCompensation and benefits\n- Base salary: $150K -
