Establish and run a security and privacy function from the ground up as an early specialist on the team. The work is hands-on, combining technical implementation with policy and audit readiness, while keeping product development moving at pace.\nWhat you'll do\n- Set up and operate a company-wide security program covering cloud environments, user permissions, credential handling and data protection.\n- Lead preparation for a formal compliance audit, working with outside assessors and keeping staff aligned with internal policies.\n- Define and enforce guardrails for automated software agents that touch internal systems, including logging, access limits and acceptable-use rules.\n- Decide how sensitive customer information is masked and who may view it, without creating friction for developers.\n- Run security questionnaires and reviews requested by customers.\n- Coordinate independent penetration testing engagements.\n- Vet third-party tools for approval based on their risk profile.\nRequirements\nWhat we're looking for\n- 5+ years of security experience, including ownership of cloud and infrastructure protection.\n- Background as an early security hire at a high-growth startup or at a company known for a demanding engineering bar.\n- Hands-on exposure to SOC 2 Type II or similar audit frameworks.\n- Strong application security knowledge.\n- Solid cloud security fundamentals, including identity, networking and encryption.\n- Clear, structured communication of security tradeoffs when challenged technically.\n- Good judgment about which risks matter most, so that a fast-growing team is not slowed down.\n- Regular use of AI tools in everyday work.\n- Based in the San Francisco area and able to be in the office at least 3 days per week.\nBonus points\n- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and container orchestration tooling.\n- Experience protecting
