This position focuses on developing new industrial processes, engineering, testing, and troubleshooting during the engineering, start-up and commissioning phase of a plant. The Process Engineer I carries out tasks outlined in the project’s completion procedure as defined in the Scope of Work. Executes completion activities at project sites and verifies that documentation is completed.\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\nInterpreting design of new and existing processing plants and equipment.\nModifying and optimize existing facilities.\nVerify and record key commissioning testing.\nTroubleshoot and correct engineering deficiencies on site, relating to electrical, controls, and instrumentation.\nPerforms troubleshooting and testing of circuit and/or design problems.\nDevelop and execute work packages, ensuring that the required procedures, check-sheets, and other items of information are assembled properly.\nReviews completed work packages for accuracy.\nAddresses engineering issues during commissioning.\nHands on support for commissioning/start-up activities.\nRed-lines and updates master drawing sets in the field as required.\nGenerates Field Change Notices.\nProvides engineering support for troubleshooting and testing.\nProvides daily progress updates to Commissioning Manager or Project Manager.\nKEY COMPETENCIES\nDemonstrated commitment to safety.\nTechnical know-how in process, or: electrical, mechanical and instrumentation as it relates to industrial processes & plants.\nOrganizational and prioritization skills.\nDemonstrated leadership skills and is self-motivated.\nExcellent communication skills, both written and oral.\nDemonstrated logical problem solving and analytical skills.\nIntermediate to advanced computer skills in spreadsheets, word processing, and database software.\nUnderstanding of PLC ladder logic, digital and sequential logic programming methods, and process related closed-loop control systems (is beneficial but not required).\nKnowledge of low voltage power distribution, instrumentation and controls engineering (is beneficial but not required).\nKnowledge of automation (PLC / DCS) and electrical system design, diagnosis and operation (is beneficial but not required).\nRead and understands electrical schematics and drawings (is beneficial but not required).\nKnowledge of engineering principles, practices and procedures.\nKnowledge of the National Electrical Code (is beneficial but not required).\nKnowledge of API codes as applied to electrical installations ((is beneficial but not required).\nAbility to analyze and solve complex problems.\nComfortable expressing an independent opinion, resilient to change and recognizes impact of their decision on others.\nWill follow instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the function of the job under general supervision.\nWORK ENVIRONMENT\nWorking on-site in heavy industrial environments mostly but not limited to mining and gas industries.
