This is a practical DevOps and SRE role for practitioners who lead by example to make change safe and easy for development teams. The position is roughly 70% coding and configuration.\nKey Responsibilities:\nConduct targeted engagements with development teams facing challenges getting to safe and rapid release cadence, or struggling with vulnerability resolution. \nWrapping the application in a suite of well-designed tests, most of which can run locally, including smoke tests to be run as part of the deployment process. \nSourcing and integrating appropriate test data, implementing data masking in lower environments \nUpgrading to supported runtimes (generally Java or NPM).\nContainerizing applications where feasible.\nUpgrading open-source libraries to their latest available major versions (e.g., migrating from Spring 2). Upgrading to the latest version of all dependencies, whether installed software, libraries, internal code, base images or operating system. Implementing processes that allow us seamlessly to stay current\nImplementing continuous library updates using Renovate. o Introducing best practice source control and branch management o Improving code review processes\nEnsuring best practice security patterns, secrets management, authentication and authorisation\nSimplifying and automating application deployment processes, including automated database changes with Liquibase and installed software with Ansible. \nIntroducing standard observability patterns.\nOverhauling exception handling and logging.\nImplementing resilient hot-hot cross-datacenter deployment topologies. \nRequired Qualifications :\nSeveral years of experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) using multiple test frameworks.\nReally excellent understanding of the different approaches to automation testing and an ability to choose the best approach and drive outcomes with AI support\nProficiency in JVM languages and/or TypeScript.\nHighest quality coding skills\nAn excellent understanding of safe practices for critical systems, including deployment architecture and observability\nAt home with multiple continuous integration and deployment systems \nExcellent understanding of secure coding practices\nCompetent with Docker and Openshift \nActively embracing AI coding \nComfortable with build automation tools such as Gradle, Maven, and npm. \nCompetent with (RedHat ) Linux \nSpring framework skills are advantageous. \nAnsible skills are advantageous\nLocation & Work Environment:\nHybrid work model\nCollaborative, fast-paced, engineering-driven environment\nStrong emphasis on hands-on engineering, technical autonomy, problem solving, and cross-team impact\nThe base salary range for this position is $145,000.00 - $175,000.00 annually.
