We also provide competitive compensation and a robust benefits plan.\nThe Supervisor - Government will manage the preparation of financial statements and related documentation for government entities, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and accuracy. This role involves overseeing preparation processes, applying accounting principles, and supervising a team of preparers.\nJob Duties\nControl Environment\nApply a thorough understanding of internal control frameworks to ensure the effectiveness of financial preparation processes \nAssess and validate internal controls over financial reporting to identify areas for improvement \nCommunicate suggestions for improving client internal controls and accounting procedures to management, helping to enhance the overall control environment \nSupervise the preparation team, ensuring accurate execution of tasks and adherence to internal controls. Provide guidance and delegate responsibilities as needed\nOffer training and mentorship to team members to improve their understanding of internal controls and financial preparation procedures \nGovernmental GAAP\nApply knowledge and understanding of governing principles; applying these principles to client transactions; and documenting and communicating an understanding and application of these principles \nIdentify and consult with clients on the impact of new accounting pronouncements \nMonitor and communicate important professional, industry pronouncements \nPresent and discuss alternative generally accepted accounting principles and arguments for/against such alternatives\nIdentify complex accounting issues and forms and documents resolution, seek counsel of Rea technical experts as needed \nGAAS/GAGAS/UG\nApply knowledge and understanding of professional standards; application of the principles contained in professional standards; and the ability to document and communicate an understanding and application of professional standards on an engagement \nApply a thorough knowledge of professional standards/practices, including GAAS, GAGAS, and UG in performing and supervising work\nProvide guidance to others and affirm conclusions made by others \nCommunicate matters required to be reported to the Audit Committee/Board and those charged with governance \nEffectively apply the use of technology \nMethodology\nImplement and adhere to preparation standards that guide the delivery of high-quality financial statements and documentation. Ensure compliance with firm methodologies and industry best practices \nConduct detailed reviews of preparation processes to ensure alignment with firm standards and regulatory requirements. Address and resolve any issues or discrepancies\nPlan and oversee the preparation process, balancing quality, efficiency, and timeliness. Recommend improvements to enhance process effectiveness and resolve critical issues \nManage client acceptance and retention procedures where applicable, ensuring a smooth and professional relationship \nResearch\nApply methodology used to seek or maintain information from authoritative sources and to draw conclusions regarding a target issue based on that information \nDefine methodology to conduct research projects and completes in a timely manner\nApply comprehensive knowledge of all appropriate research tools and draw conclusions based upon appropriate research \nPrepare memo supporting research/conclusions and consult with others if appropriate\nPresent issues to principal in charge of engagement or concurring reviewer effectively and accurately \nMay be required to organize and conduct effective internal CPE training sessions in area of specialization, involving Firm specialists \nJob Performance Responsibilities\nPlan and review the audit process and the procedures to be performed to include: \nMonitoring engagement process and actual time incurred vs. budget with assistance of Senior \nManaging client relationships/expectations in accordance with the project \nProviding advice to clients in a timely manner \nSupervisory Responsibilities\nResponsible for supervision of Accounting Specialist team, Associates and Senior Associates on all projects \nReview work prepared by Associates and Senior Associates and provide review comments\nAct as a Career Advisor to Associates and Senior Associates \nSchedule and manage workload of Associates and Senior Associates\nProvide verbal and written performance feedback to Associates and Senior Associates \nTeach/coach Associates and Senior Associates to provide on-the-job learning\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nExperience in the use of various assurance applications and research tools as is appropriate for this level \nMicrosoft Office Products, including Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint \nStrong Governmental GAAP, GAAS, GAGAS and UG knowledge \nPossess proven solid verbal and written communication skills \nPossess excellent people development and delegation skills, including training/instruction and engagement scheduling and budgeting \nPossess executive presence - need to be able to be primary contact for the client, prepare and present presentations to clients and potential clients \nPossess client development/relationship-building skills \nPossess solid decision-making skills \nAble to resolve complex accounting issues \nAble to be responsible for business development and marketing\nAble to be responsible for engagement profitability including billings and collections \nRequirements\nEducation:\nBachelor's in accounting or equivalent required \nMBA/master's degree in accounting optional \nExperience:\nFour (4) or more years prior work experience in public accounting required \nPrior significant supervisory experience \nLicenses/Certifications:\nLicensed CPA or international equivalent preferred \nThe conditions listed are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
