We do this by:\nWe provide the REA data platform that supports all REAs data processing, management and sharing; including data processing and enrichment, storage, discoverability, insights and governance\nImproving the quality, access and usage of our data for staff, consumers and customers.\nBuilding reusable data products that unlock the value of our data Investing in the reliability, quality and security of systems and data\nWhat the role is all about\nThe Principal Product Manager (Data Platform) is a senior product management expert responsible for driving increased data literacy, data-as-product mindset, and adoption of our data mesh operating model and platforms across REA.\nYou will be the champion of REA’s Data Platform and lead the evolution of a scalable, reusable and market-leading platform. Operating at the intersection of technology, data, product, design and business, you will shape the platform vision and strategy, solve complex and ambiguous problems, and turn stakeholder needs into clear product outcomes.\nYour role will be to:\nDefine and communicate a compelling vision and roadmap for REA’s Data Platform, aligned to company strategy, data strategy and business needs\nTranslate priorities into clear product outcomes, investment choices and build, buy or partner recommendations\nLead the product direction for REA’s data platform, predominantly built on Google Cloud Platform using technologies including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Atlan, Airflow, Apache Kafka, Soda and Tableau\nShape capabilities that improve scalability, reliability, quality, security, governance, discoverability, ease of use and developer and data experience\nContinue the evolution of REA’s data mesh vision and self-service capabilities, driving adoption of platform capabilities that improve the quality, access and usage of data across REA\nIdentify, prioritise and sequence the most valuable platform opportunities, partnering with engineering, architecture, data and product teams to deliver measurable improvements for the enterprise\nAssess and synthesise stakeholder needs, feedback and customer insights to identify the most important problems to solve\nBuild partnerships across the business and with the Head of Data to align data needs, go-to-market activity, operating-model evolution, capabilities and roadmaps\nAct as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, using technical fluency, customer insight and commercial acumen to shape strategic decisions\nWho we’re looking for\nSignificant experience in senior product management, product leadership or a comparable strategic product role, ideally in complex technology or data environments\nDeep understanding of how platforms create scalability, leverage and improved experiences for a digital business\nDemonstrated experience leading the evolution of an established data, technology or developer platform\nStrong understanding of data products, data platforms, data mesh, self-service, governance and modern cloud technologies\nExperience working effectively with engineering, architecture, design, data and business stakeholders in an agile delivery environment\nA track record of identifying and solving complex, unstructured and ambiguous problems\nStrong strategic thinking and systems-level perspective, with the ability to connect long-term vision to practical delivery decisions\nAbility to drive adoption of new platform capabilities and demonstrate measurable business and user outcomes\nStrong analytical, commercial and decision-making skills, including the ability to evaluate build, buy and partner options\nExceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to simplify complex domains for a wide range of stakeholders\nPassion for data, technology, product craft and improving the experiences of the people who use platforms\nExperience in a Data Mesh-inspired operating model will be highly regarded\nThe REA experience\nThe physical, mental, emotional and financial health of our people is something we’ll never stop caring about.
