This role is ideal for an experienced designer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, developing practical design solutions, and guiding projects from initial concept through fabrication and deployment.\nYou bring deep expertise in mechanical and process design, strong technical judgment, and the ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines. You are comfortable leading design reviews, working directly with clients, and mentoring others while maintaining a hands-on approach to design execution.\nIn this role, you will have the opportunity to influence technical decisions, establish design best practices, and drive improvements that strengthen quality, efficiency, and project delivery.\nWhat You Get To Do\nLead the design and development of industrial process systems, including skid-based and modular equipment, from concept through detailed design and release.\nDevelop and review technical requirements, 3D models, general arrangement drawings, equipment layouts, and piping designs.\nSolve complex design challenges through engineering analysis, simulation, validation, and sound technical judgment.\nLead internal and client-facing design reviews, presenting solutions and resolving technical challenges.\nCollaborate with mechanical, structural, electrical, and controls teams to deliver integrated system designs.\nPartner with fabrication and field service teams to ensure designs are manufacturable, safe, and aligned with project requirements.\nSupport project proposals, cost estimates, and execution planning to meet scope, schedule, and budget expectations.\nMentor designers and engineers while establishing design standards, tools, and best practices.\nDrive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance design quality, standardization, and efficiency.\nWhat You Bring To The Team\n10+ years of experience in industrial process and/or mechanical design within an engineering or industrial environment.\nAssociate or bachelor's degree in Drafting/Design, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.\nAdvanced proficiency with AutoCAD 2D/3D and SolidWorks.\nExperience developing mechanical and process designs, including 3D modeling, detailed drawings, simulation, and engineering analysis.\nStrong ability to gather technical requirements, solve complex design challenges, and apply practical engineering principles.\nExperience developing engineering and project cost estimates.\nDemonstrated ability to lead technical discussions, collaborate across disciplines, and communicate effectively with clients and project teams.\nStrong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently while supporting team objectives.\nCommitment to safe design practices and adherence to applicable safety standards and procedures.\nAbility to work on-site in Rochester and/or Rush, NY, with travel to client and supplier locations as needed (typically less than 25%).\nPreferred Skills\nExperience leading the design of industrial equipment, modular process systems, or automation solutions.\nAdvanced piping design, pressure vessel design, or pipe stress and structural frame analysis experience.\nFamiliarity with Caesar II, SolidWorks FEA, ANSYS, or similar analysis tools.\nExperience working with 3D point clouds.\nKnowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems and Lean, Six Sigma, or related continuous improvement methodologies.\nFamiliarity with OSHA regulations and industrial process safety principles.\nThe hourly rate for this position is $35.00- $53.00. This range represents the Company’s good faith estimate of the base compensation for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and geographic location. In addition to hourly rate, this role may be eligible for annual incentive compensation and/or long-term incentives, subject to Company plans.
