Our Manufacturing Excellence team help us improve the efficiency, quality and safety of our manufacturing operations, and our Logistics Excellence team develop new and innovative ways to distribute our products to customers.\nAbout the role\nAs a Technical Operator you will be responsible for maintaining, operating and improving equipment to meet key operational targets in safety, quality, productivity, cost and delivery. For this role, solid engineering knowledge (typically apprenticeship-trained) will help you to work within an autonomous team where you will follow production standards, focus on continuous improvement and demonstrate strong analytical and coaching skills. Acting as an owner of a packing line, you will often lead a small team of 3-5 operators to drive KPI delivery and optimize line efficiency.\nYour responsibilities\nOperate, maintain, repair and improve lines to deliver the production plan at maximum efficiency and quality.\nLead daily performance reviews and ensure timely corrective actions, ensuring that all team members are fully trained to required standards.\nCoordinate operator activities to optimise skills and resources.\nPlan, resource and continuously improve changeovers to minimise waste and meet area targets.\nDrive ongoing improvement of team performance and equipment reliability.\nPlan and lead maintenance tasks ensuring repair activities are logged in CMMS and completion of autonomous and planned maintenance is actioned.\nLead breakdown response and coordinate engineering activities.\nPerform root cause analysis and implement preventative actions.\nEscalate line stoppages or prolonged breakdowns according to timelines.\nThe experience we're looking for\nExperience with high-speed packaging lines in FMCG, food, chemical, or pharmaceutical environments is required\nTime-served engineer with mechanical and/or electrical training with strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills\nStrong knowledge of engineering practices, GMP, and KPI-driven operations\nAbility to balance operational responsibilities with performance optimization\nDrives continuous improvement using CI tools and problem-solving approach\nThe skills for success\nAnalytical skills with drive to implement improvements\nPlanning and organisational skills\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills\nProblem solving skills, with an ability to see potential problems early and build in suitable contingencies Excellent team working and team building skills\nBasic computer proficiency\nWhat we offer\nWith inclusion at the heart of everything we do, working alongside our four global Employee Resource Groups, we support our people at every step of their career journey, helping them to succeed in their own individual way.
