This includes running established test procedures on proprietary automotive test equipment, assisting in the test setup and maintenance of internal fleet test vehicles, as well as assisting in the design and fabrication of new test equipment. This position will work collaboratively with R&D groups to diagnose and resolve technical issues. \n\nThis is a full-time position based at our Danbury, CT facility and will require a local candidate for fully on-site working each week.\n\nThe Master Engineering Technician is a hands-on position that will have three primary functions:\nLead in the operation and maintenance of internal proprietary test equipment\nLead in the test setup and maintenance of internal and external fleet test vehicles\nAssist in the development of new tests and procedures\n\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\nHands on position that is responsible to contribute to unique solutions to challenges that combine mechanical/electrical design, solid understanding of automotive systems, and excellent communication skills to meet business needs. This will include extensive written documentation, assisting with theoretical design, as well as leading the mechanical/electrical fabrication on both proprietary test equipment as well as automotive fleets.\nLead and assist in the development and responsible for the documentation of in-depth technical procedures and experiments. \nTroubleshoot technical issues and utilize scientific methods to develop solutions and resolve issues.\nAccurately perform lab testing, document, and summarize data.\nRequires travel up to 10%, a driver’s license is required\nOther duties may be assigned.\n\nCompetencies:\nTo perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies: \nTechnical Mastery – Have a robust knowledge of automotive cooling systems, mechanical aptitude, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.\nAS Degree, BS preferred in engineering, or technical equivalent\n10+ years of experience in automotive/heavy duty or scientific field\n7 or more years of experience in research and development.\nPrevious experience in engine coolants/heat transfer fluids\nStrong mechanical and electrical vehicle knowledge/experience for both ICE and EV vehicles\nStrong organizational skills\nAbility to work independently as well as in teams\nKnowledge/experience with manual machine shop equipment (lathe, milling machine…etc.)\nKnowledge of Mechanical/Laboratory safety practices\nAnalytical thinker and problem solver\nStrong understanding of the scientific method. \nStrong sense of customer service with internal and external customers.\nKnowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel.\n\nSupervisory Responsibilities\nThis is not a supervisory position.\n\nPhysical Demands:\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
