About the Role
This role sits at the intersection of legal research, artificial intelligence, large language models, and agentic legal workflows. You will help develop rigorous methodologies for evaluating AI-powered legal reasoning and establish frameworks for measuring performance across complex legal tasks.
You will conduct applied research, develop legal AI benchmarks and evaluation methodologies, and collaborate with researchers and engineers to improve the quality and reliability of AI systems used in legal workflows.
What You’ll Do
Design, develop, and maintain evaluation frameworks for AI agents operating in legal domains.
Build benchmark suites, scoring methodologies, quality rubrics, and research-grade evaluation protocols.
Conduct original research into legal reasoning, statutory interpretation, legal analysis, and workflow automation.
Develop and curate datasets, case studies, and benchmark environments reflecting real-world legal challenges.
Collaborate with AI researchers and engineers to evaluate and improve legal-focused models and agentic systems.
Analyze model performance, reasoning quality, and failure modes across legal use cases.
Document research findings, best practices, and evaluation methodologies.
Monitor developments in legal technology, jurisprudence, regulatory environments, and AI research.
Contribute to standards and frameworks for legal AI evaluation and benchmarking.
What We’re Looking For
Advanced degree in Law, such as a JD, LLM, SJD, PhD in Law, or equivalent.
Deep expertise in one or more legal domains, including:
Corporate law
Contracts
Litigation
Regulatory compliance
Intellectual property
Employment law
Public policy
Demonstrated experience in legal research, legal analysis, or policy research.
Experience developing structured methodologies for assessing legal arguments, outcomes, or research quality.
Exceptional analytical reasoning and written communication skills.
Experience working across interdisciplinary teams involving research, technology, or legal operations.
Preferred Experience
Legal technology, legal operations, or AI-enabled legal workflows.
Legal benchmarking, research methodology, or legal knowledge management.
Published legal scholarship or policy research.
Contributions to legal standards, frameworks, or structured evaluation methodologies.

Full-time remote position.
Base salary: $200,000-$250,000/year.
